There is NO whale/s for the UM expansion. It is being financed 100% from ticket revenue. What is it about that statement that is unclear to you? There are no donations. There is no use of the University General Fund. There are no donors. The money for expansion is coming exclusively from ticket revenue from the end zone expansion (because those bonds were exhausted well ahead of schedule). I'm not sure what your comment about start-up costs mean. The start up costs come from the same place all the costs do: From ticket revenue.
Believe me or believe your "sources". But I sit on two Boards of Directors at UM, so you can rest assured that I have pretty good information. But I'm certain your sources are more credible.
And
I'll stick to my point that most posters on here realize that Griz fans add much to this board, and I'll stick by my offer to have you ignore all of my posts if you wish. Believe me, I won't take it personally.
Again, I don't want this to be smack. It's not intended to be. And I fully understand that Griz fans (me included) have derailed many-a-thread on this board. But if you believe it's ALL Griz fans doing that, you've got your head in the sand.
You are completely misinformed if you don't think the "whale" contributions play into how ticket money can be earmarked for expansion.
Think about it for a minute...
All right, Papa. I'm a moron. Enlighten me.

A large chunk of it came from donors. How is that at ALL reletive to the stadium expansion, and the fact that it's being funded by bonds which are paid off by the ticket revenue generated by the North end zone seats?

I think that you think that this is independent of the sizeable alumni contribtions that now flow into the program. Here's a clue for you. The old guys with the sideline passes who wander the field during the game? They aren't assistant coaches and I've been down on the field with them.

Sorry, I just don't know what the hell you're talking about. Are there sizable donors to UM's program? Yes. Is the new construction being built with their donations? No. So I still don't understand the correlation or why donors are brought into the discussion. Sam Walton could donate his entire fortune and it wouldn't change the way the expansion is being financed. So I'll ask again: what part of this don't you understand?

Papa, it's clearly you who doesn't understand.
I could tell you the interest rate on the bonds for the expansion, the expected payoff date, and when and how the additional revenue is to be spent. If you can come to me with those details, we'll talk. Otherwise, just admit that you don't know what the **** you're talking about. [/i]

I know what I am talking about. I know how pissed off the "whales" at UM were after the "accounting error".
Type more on BobcatNation.com. It gives you credibility.

Papa, you might know what you're talking about, but no one else does.
Yes, people were upset (and rightfully so) when the debt was incurred. I'm certain there are msu people frustrated with your on-going debt.
And this is PRECISELY why UM is NOT building as you suggested they should: all 7,000 seats at once. They are building in stages so that the bonds are essentially satisified before construction begins. As I posted on the other thread, UM is taking the most fiscally-responsible road possible on their construction.
So again, your point is.....????
(Incidentally, If there's one thing I don't need to worry about, it's credibility).

I know this. What you don't seem to grasp are the tens of thousands of $$$ going to things that ticket revenue usually would cover.
This tells me you are not an insider to the program. I am. Deal with it.

Papa,
PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The new expansion is being paid for from EXCESS revenue from the PRIOR expansion. There is no new money involved. Consequently, there is no money being cyphoned off any other program. It is NOT a zero-sum game. The Griz keep generated more revenue, which allows them to pay as they go. Once a portion of the expansion is paid (as in the case of the north end zone, those dollars can be transfered to new expansion). I don't know how to make this more clear for you. They are NOT robbing any other budget item.
I don't care whether or not you believe I'm an insider. I have important things to worry about in my life. But if you believe the expansion is coming with an opportunity cost (that is, at the expense of something else), you're just flat out wrong.

Yeah, he's an insider. In that he's been inside Wa-Griz a time or two. He didn't even know (and still doesn't seem to understand) the finance mechanism for the expansion.
