Help me oh Great Bobcat for I am about to sin!!

Post by mslacat » Thu Feb 24, 2005 4:03 pm

I just got a call asking if I could help usher tonight. Nothing to uncommon about that,
but what is going to weird is that this will be the first basketball game I have attended in
the Adams center since 1979 where I am actually actively rout FOR the Griz! Now
most of the time I do not actively rout against the Griz, unless it the Game it has some
implications on the Cats, but tonight I know I am going to be actively, fist pumping ,
foot stomping routing for the Griz to take out Eastern Washington. The only thing I can
think of to say is to quote "Ron Burgundy" when he said " That's wrong, that’s just plain
wrong" . Help me oh Bobcat God for I am about to sin!!

I feel for you; all I can say is it's a sorry world when you have to worry about your team taking care of business AND hope somebody you would rather not win

Yea, but it is a whole lot better than finishing in last place as we were picked! [-X

I got my B.S. in 78 and came back to add an endorsement in 84. I'm getting so old that I can't remember what game McGrath ran a criss-cross on second and short to turn the 76 season loose and which team Flaig was on...not that that was that long ago

That's actually a sore subject with the griz. I told this story before, but about 4 years ago I worked a Cat/Griz basketball game in Missoula. I told everyone on the Cat board to keep their eye out the Griz usher wearing Bobcat colors. That night I took a little flack from Griz fans, but I worked the Cat section most of the night. It was also the last game of the year. The following year i got an email sent esspecially to me informing me of a new ushing rule.
"Ushers may not wear clothing the color of the opposing teams, and are enchoraged to wear Griz colors while Ushering"
I told them, I absolutely, will not wear Griz colors, but I generally will wear a grey sweatshirt.

But tell me, how many of you know, off the top of your head, the school colors of lets say Pacific, so you know not to wear them!?

Actually, mslacat, the EWU-UM game in and of itself is relatively inconsequential to the Bobcats' post-season possibilities... So, if you can't bring yourself to root for the Griz, that's actually not so bad... But, if EWU beats UM, MSU would then need UM to beat both PSU & NAU.
