They do no such thing when the game is played in one team's stadium and the other team and their fans have to travel over 2,000 miles to get there on a week's notice. There is nothing neutral about it and anyone that tries to argue that position isn't going to be seriously.
Then don't take it seriously.

BTW: Despite all the neutrality discussion, Hauck is still 2-4 against teams from the CAA, SoCon and G'way in five home games and one NEUTRAL (UM vs. JMU in Chatty) game.
BTW: Hauck has had the unique distinction of having to play those teams in the playoffs over the past five years. I guess you could say he's kind of in a league of his own.

Tampa, that's the part of the argument that cat fans downplay. Is the record impressive on the surface? No, but I'll tell you this: 99% of all FCS coaches would trade him straight-up today. The cats just don't realize how hard it is to win in the playoffs. But you'd certainly think they'd realize how hard it is to get there even once, say nothing about every freakin' year. :-k

Read, Dennehy and Glenn sure wouldn't trade him. I'm sure 99% of the fans at UM would like to trade Hauck for one of those coaches, too.

We do know how hard it is for the Griz to win in the playoffs. We don't have that same problem having never lost a home game and being 1-2 on the road, instead of 0-7.

Try four out of five, Cal Poly wasn't in one of those leagues. Once again, I know your team better than you do.

Of course you don't have the same problem. Your sample set is a grand total of 3 games. You can't really lose too much when you aren't a serious part of the equation.

Montana beat Marshall on the road in 1995 for the NC and Furman on the road in 2001 for the NC. They were great road victories for the Griz.

I agree. Now if you could just get the NCAA to do the same. Good luck with that.

I think you have a legitimate case in calling the 1995 NC game a true road game....played at the opponent's home stadium. The 2001 game was not a road game for either Furman or UM however....not played at either team's home stadium. In the interest of being consistent, I also do not consider MSU's victory over La Tech for the 1984 NC to have been a road game either, although they did have an actual road victory on the way to the 1976 NC.

You know...actually, we don't really have to get the NCAA to do anything (unless, I suppose, we actually care whether our win in Huntington "officially" goes into the "road" column or the "neutral" column"). If our goals are more humble than that (like, say, just having a rational discussion on a message board), then we really don't need to convince the NCAA of anything; we only need to convince you.

So, crazycat, I'm asking you (not the NCAA): do you think Marshall's home field was really a neutral site for the 1995 title game, or would you agree that that game was, essentially, a home game for Marshall? If the former -- then fine, we'll agree to disagree. If the latter, then will you please stop making this idiotic argument so the grownups can talk about football?

It's the SMACK TALK room. C'mon now. I'm just having some with ya, sorry if its boring you.

But to step out of the smack room for a second, "I" do agree with you that UM was on the road when it beat Furman and Marshall, and that Marshall did essentially have a home field advantage. Definitely! Absolutely! That still doesn't change that it was 'technically' a neutral site as defined by the NCAA.

However, it's partially UM's fault that was as much of the case as it was. UM fans knew all along that the game was to be played there and that there were ample tickets for all. They should've had a plan in place to get to that game to 'neutralize' the advantage Marshall was about to have. So you just cannot take full credit for it being a 'road' game. Let's say you get 80% of a road win here. That's more than half and you can round up! Can we agree on that?

I always mark the date and place of the NC game just in case. I don't schedule anything for that time frame.

WHY?? There is absolutely no chance of the cats getting there again.

Hardy-har-har. That's so funny I forgot to laugh. You're a regular Todd DelaMuca.

So where's GrizLaw? I thought we'd have a deal by now. I'm willing to say UM is 0.8-7 in road games. Not as good as our 1-2, but it gets off the .000 win Pct.

No, it was in a stadium. Marshall gift-wrapped it with 15 penalties and Furman's star RB (Eddie Lee Ivory) was out. But, I'm sure you knew that. A pair of tainted wins. "Gifts" as your really good coach calls them.
