Roger Cooper (NFL Combine)
http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/8215909
Hopefully Coop has a super combine and goes in the first 4 rounds this year. I would love to see him get a shot in the NFL! I'm also pulling for Beck from Cal Poly as well. He was a stud LB as well in 1-AA.
GO GET EM COOP!

I think Coop's athleticism is going to carry him to the NFL. I'm not sure if or when he will get drafted, but I know that if he gets a shot, he can have a big impact in several different ways with whatever team he gets on. If Joey Thomas got a shot based on his athletic ability, Coop definately deserves a shot based on the same criteria. Plus he's a good kid who will work very hard to make it.
Best of Luck to Him.
I also hope that Daws and Molock get a shot as well.

They don't draft people to play special teams except for kickers and and long snappers (and even then they sign them as undrafted freeagents and want them to play TE).mquast53000 wrote:I think Cooper would get drafted late just for his ability to play special teams. Imagine Cooper flying down the field and tackling return men. He would be a playmaker for sure.
To be drafted, they expect him to play Outside Linebacker. Coop will be drafted for speed, being able to cover a pass receiver and hitting. Wish him all the best at the evals.

Yes, he is going to the main NFL combine. From the article in the original post, he will be wearing #16 and the NFL network will be showing the live workouts of players running the 40-yard dash during position drills today through Tuesday. The linebackers will be shown on Tuesday. If anyone has a chance check it out and see if you can catch a glimpse of Roger.

On the Arizona Cardinals website they will be streaming the NFL's live coverage live each day from 10-12 Mountain Time. They will not be replaying any of the tapings so if you get a chance and can tune in on Tuesday morning you can watch the LBs work out via the internet.

I also saw on ESPN that 40 time for Clarett. On that same segment I saw at the bottom of a graphic displaying 40 times, that Justin Green of UM ran a 4.7 40. I thought it was interesting.
Also, when is Coop going to be doing workouts? Anyone know?

They are showing the LB's now on the 3 cone drill. Could see Coop standing in the background. Will post results if I catch him do any drills.

It seems strange to me that the NFL network covers this event so in-depth, but they don't really break down the results for a whole group. Maybe at the end of the coverage they will give a recap with all the numbers, but so far I am not impressed with their television coverage.
However, I did find this link that should be updated soon.

Very little shown of the LB's at all, most of their time was spent on the Corners and Safeties. Didn't see anything of Coop in the time that I got to watch. Hope he did well.
Oh and speaking of poor coverage, did anybody notice when they were listing some of the fast 40 times the showed Jordan Beck from California, not Cal Poly.

From Gil Brandt:
Roger Cooper, LB, Montana State
6-2 1/2, 243 pounds, 4.7 in the 40
...Cooper has outstanding character, leads by example and will graduate from school in December. He has good size and speed for his position and is an instinctive, good athlete who competes hard on every play and can cover the tight end very well (NFL teams will like that). He also has quick hips, which means he can turn and run very well. He does need work catching the ball. He will be a very good special teams player.
"He does need work catching the ball." How did he come to that conclusion?
