So sad... it's embarrassing to see you go from honestly good smack to something so weak and predictable. You should have quit while you were ahead.
You need to remember that the majority of posts in this thread were made in the heat of the moment, while emotions were running very high. It is easy to come over and read through them three hours after the fact and criticize. If you want any proof that the infallible griz fans are indeed prone to such posts, go ahead and refer to the numerous posts made after the Sam Houston (first) and Portland State football games from this past season.
Personally, I don't care what anyone thinks about my posts on here. The mainstays among us all understand each other, and we feel a wonderful freedom to express our thoughts and feelings as they come to us without fear of recrimination. I think that is a great thing, because it is completely honest and without pretense. The discussions seem to go to hell once the annoying trolls come over and ruin it for everyone.

I have no problem with smack talk in general, but a couple points about it that tend to piss people off.
1) If you post smack in the middle of our gameday thread, or any other threat that is about Bobcat sports and NOT smack, you are going to piss some people off, because some people don't like smack and never visit the smack board just so they don't have to hear it. But talking smack in a normal thread forces them to read the smack talk, and it will piss people off.
2) If you post smack not only in the middle of a normal thread, but right as your team is about to beat ours, not only does everything from point 1 apply, but you are also kicking a team while they are down, on top of being an ass and not knowing which forum to talk in.
3) If you don't talk about your team all year long and the only post you have had all year is combining numbers 1 and 2, then you are especially a prick. You don't know which forum to post in, you post smack while everyone is bummed, and you haven't posted a thing all year - indicating you have been hiding in the shadows until your team finally beat us. If you are going to talk valid and respectable smack, you can't be so cowardly and expect not to anger people.
There are several griz fan posters here I respect - Whitemeat, Nick, jagur1(only rarely though) - those are the only ones I can think of right now, sorry if I missed anyone.
But bearBAC, bronco, litterbox, cannonball, are all high schoolers with even lower levels of maturity. If they are past high school, they should be ashamed.
Smack forum is that way boys. It isn't terribly hard to see the big text telling you which forum is which. Maybe we should just ban most of the griz fan posters here on all boards except smack, since that is the only thing they are capable of talking.

Well put CelticCat. I've got to spend some time and call around as I'm not well trained as to automatically delete messages from some senders yet. I don't mind someone coming in and talking smack on the smack board yet some of the other school's following evidently can't understand when we voice our disgust with their fan base, we're not talking smack among ourselves about them
As I've posted previously, when I lived in the south I was automatically stereotyped as being one of them, and it took me to the point where I was actually embarrassed of and for them on several occasions similar to what Vince Devlin must have eventually experienced when the wrote that worthless article demeaning Choo Chooville.

Haven't seen you post enough to remember you yet. From your posts you seem like a good egg.info197176 wrote:CC: What about me??

CC: I try not to post too much on this Board because it is for Cat fans and I think fans from other schools should respect that...just like I try to understand when fans vent based on wins/losses/etc. Often times things are said in the heat of the moment that would not be said after further reflection...

They're meaningless now, Griz are still playing basketball.mquast53000 wrote: Also, where was this smack talk on Jan 15 & Feb 13? When were those games EVER meaningless?
Really though, good game Cats. Your team this year really impressed me, you lost one of your better players before the season started, and I remember reading on this board that there was no way this could be a "good year" and that the Cats could be the worst in the Big Sky. You took 2 of 3 against the Griz, secured the #2 seed in the conference and posted a good record on the year, when you were expected to have a down year.

I came to this post because a friend alerted me to it a few weeks ago, said it was a good time once in a while. Prior to that I'd never visited either e-griz or bobcat nation, let alone posted on either. Living in Montana is a unique thing - no pro teams, and everyone's split between the cats and griz, though most of them just root for the state in general when it means something. But we all have our friends who are rivals, and it's fun to poke fun once in a while - especially when they're down. I went to the smack forum when I first visited, but no one seems to post there, so what's the point? This thread says "anything and everything related to Bobcat athletics." So smack talk about Bobcat athletics seems to fit the bill. I made what I thought was a clever reference to the football coach caught selling drugs, expecting a clever retort. Instead I got a bunch of people with their panties in a bunch. It you can't take a light-hearted joke, you're taking your flipping team too seriously. There are plenty of jokes about the griz on this very thread (many of them funny), and no one's complaining about them being smack. But if you'd rather not hear from me again because you think I'm immature or an idiot, fine by me. I came here for fun, not to listen to a bunch of whining. Here's my insult - close your eyes if you'd rather not see it - I can get enough of that in the Chronicle every time we beat you.

...we're not talking smack, it REALLY, REALLY is what we think in this thread and we're not (for the most part) joking about the image they portray outside our state...if it's an honest "attempt" at humor, we'll go to the appropriate venue and take the crap in stride. But yeah, it gets tired hearing over and over the same lame sh-t...To make an honest analogy, they, for the most part realize 1-AA ain't no big time division and on the national scene, they're pretty sorry BUT AT LEAST WE'RE BETTER than someone mentality...

Well over the last few years it has been the same constant smack talk.Litterbox wrote:I came to this post because a friend alerted me to it a few weeks ago, said it was a good time once in a while. Griz fans either mention the streak, or the meth debacle. It was funny until 1000 people have joked about it, now it's just old as hell. If you hear the same thing over and over you tend to not care whether you make a clever retort or not, because you are sick of it. Granted you haven't been on here too long, but trust me - the meth problem has been beaten to death by Griz fans.

...and it's more than a game. When I see pictures of our kids in uniform glued to the tube and their identity and brief escape from their reality so linked to a bunch of 17-22 year old kids performance, it only serves to solidify my love for my institution (almost to the point some think I should be institutionalized) I think the kids Coach Kramer understands this relationship and I hope one day Coach Durham instills this same spirit into all the kids he's recuited to Bozo. I know our highlight films from last year's Cat team will make many of our ROTC products proud.

EXACTLY!!! Everything I do, I do 110% - and sports is no different. Nothing in this world provides a better escape and more enjoyment for me, and I wouldn't have it any other way.Cat Grad wrote:...and it's more than a game. That pretty sums it up for me as well. I have a passion for sports and its the passion of the Cat/Griz fans that make this rivalry one of the best (IF NOT THE BEST) in the nation. Griz played a heck of a game and I thought our team played 'flat' (not to mention the 3's which I won't go into on this). Interesing the two teams that had 10 days off to rest were bumped from the tourney their first game out.BozoneCat wrote:CelticCat wrote:I can't imagine living without a huge passion for sports... what is that like?

And each and every one of the kids that'll be playing on Sunday also represent us; looking at the highlight film from last year, Gil Brandt is correct in his preassessment of Lulay and Jeff. But as that film gets circulated, there'll be more than a few other kids given a shot both offensively and defensively
They're making their money in the weight room and gym right now.

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.
