I really like Craddock and I hope Durham will not be dumbass and not sign him. I think MSU needs him.

Durham right now is on a west coast recruiting swing. I heard he was in Oregon on Tuesday and heading up to Washington later this week. Craddock has been put on a lot of WAC type schools waiting list (2nd 3rd choice) He was talking to some folks a few weeks back about his recruiting and was frustrated because all of the lower mid major D-1 thought he would go to a Pac-10 /WAC school and all of the Pac-10 /WAC schools had him on a second choice list, so he had no offers yet. He stated Montana State was talking to him regularly, and the Griz were talking regularly to his coach. He was looking to jump at the first Offer he got if it was right or go the JC route.

I am bummed McGillis may not coming to MSU, on a lot of levels I have invested time
in this Hellgate Knight. Some of you like MtHoops and others may be aware of some
investment I have had, some may not. Maybe at some time I will share with you folks. I
wanted to see a very deserving kid get a chance to play D-1 ball, and I hoped he would
be able to join the Bobcats. As Bummed as I may feel, I know for some of you, it really
does not compare. While I am a Hellgate Alumni, I have never met Mr. McGillis, and a
lot of you know him a lot better and the emotional connection is stronger. I think we all
need to recognize this and understand that all of these comparisons to this and that player
mean nothing at this point, and only tend to cut deep into raw feelings at this point. Jack
has unlimited potential, just recognize that! He is a high school player that will make his
own mark on the D-1 landscape. Right now, today, feeling are raw if you are a Dissly,
Durr, or McGillis fan/friend I really think that the comparisons are getting too personal,
lets accept that McGillis will become a D-1 player we will be able to evaluate him at a
later point. Durham may have or not made a mistake and we will hold him responsible.
Things are a little personal right now.
Well said!

Not sure where you are coming from HBs? I guess he could walk on somewhere to play hoops, but why would he do that as opposed to accepting a scholarship to play elsewhere?

I can think of only 1 reasonable scenario: If he tells the coach that he would walk on because he didn't need the scholarship in order to attend school. But in that case, why not walk on in the WAC or Pac 10?

I was responding to mslacat with respect to making comparisons and how those comparisons get too personal sometimes.

We will see what happens, but Ya'll remember the name Jack McGillis in Bobcat Country, because it just may be a name that haunts you in a few years.....(To Be Continued)
You must be on major drugs. First of all, you cannot compare players without comparing positions played....thus your comment about Casey Durham is ignored. Secondly, McGillis is no better than Durr or Dissly and is not as good as they were when they were in high school. Both were signed early in November of their senior high school seasons. Where was McGillis...and he is still not signed. Get a clue and learn something about D-1 basketball and you might understand some of this.

Don't try to take this too personal Mthoops but Carson is not that good. he looks timid and really hasn't impressed me yet. i realize he is a role player but he could be a lot more active even in that role. not sure what his numbers were this year, so if someone could give some info as far as minutes played, points, rebounds, assists, etc. i would appreciate and maybe take a different stance on the issue.

Thanks rtb.....

I can't actually comment as far as how good McGillis is but I can say this by looking at those numbers......wasted scholorship. I have never been a huge fan of small town basketball players because I just don't think that they play against the competition that is in AA ball. They throw up some great numbers but, I can't really think of any small town bball players that have done that well at MSU or UM. I guess Criswell is about the only small towner that has been doing ok lately.

Off the top of my head, Robin S., Larry K., Daren E. and Jeremy L., and Mat S. (most have hard names to spell, so I didn't even bother) also all did okay for the Griz. I guess MSU just doesn't recruit enough small town kids to have a reasonable sample size.

Coaches lie when recruiting? Is that supposed to be something new.....Coaches are the pimps and the players are the prostitutes.....look at Raw Recruits or read last weeks SI on JC players.....It has gone on for a long time and will continue to go on for a long time and us "Johns" will continue for a piece of the pie.

i will give you an example...criswell of the griz
was not recrutied by either the cats or the griz, proved himself and is now starting for the big sky champions.

if he truley wants to play for the cats, he will walk on , redshirt, and possibly end up better then if he got a full ride, no red shirt, and ended up a cheep copy of pete conway, good tallent, no committment to anything but his self

That's not true. Don Holst wanted Criswell and did recruit him, but UM didn't have any scholarships available that fall. Holst told Criswell that if he walked on, he would get a scholarship the following year. When Holst was told his contract would not be renewed, one of the last things he did as head coach was give Criswell his scholarship.

Look at the stats of all non-starters on the MSU team with the exception of shoot happy Casey. Are they all wasted scholarships? Someone has to share the ball and set screens! :?
