I do not know how serious it is, but I hope the guy is okay! Anyone have any more details on his accident?

Teisher
I listened to Coach Kramer over the noon hour on the Sports Nuts radio show with Dave Visscher and Dean Alexander. In response to a question concerning significant injuries going in to spring ball, Coach Kramer did not mention Teisher. In fact, he did not mention Teisher at all, even when he talked about new player signings and the Bobcats' new depth at tight end with projected starter Elliot Barnhart and the other three or four red shirt freshman tight ends. Hopefully this does not mean that Teisher is gone for the year.

Re: Teisher
Maybe Tesiher is not as fast and good as he's being built up to be in the nation and is not the clear cut salvation at TE.duelalumnicat wrote:I listened to Coach Kramer over the noon hour on the Sports Nuts radio show with Dave Visscher and Dean Alexander. Kramer tends to like people to earn the job instead of being the only choice.
Right now my feeling is they are not planning to pass as much to the TE. Wolfe had a great year and Barnhart didn't catch anything. Might be best to use DeCock, Bolton, or Jensen at TE 70% of the time in running sets and pass protection (like they did with Bolton last year in the backfield a couple of times). The Tackles use smaller shouder pads to pass block (like OLB pads) as opposed to Guards/Centers. Wouldn't be a stretch to go big on the OL with one of them playing TE.

Idea is to have a mobil big blocker for blocking. In essence a 3rd tackle. Typically the left tackle is a player that can do that since they tend to be atheltic and mobil. You don't have to ever throw them him however and Bolton did play running back in high school I hear. I hear Jensen ran a 4.9 something last spring.catatac wrote:Bolton at TE??? Isn't he like 6-5, 330?
If the TE is not a major pass route runner (as Wolfe became), he needs to be a stud blocker. Thus allowing the TE to block and Dominic go on pass routes instead. Much better results possibly.

I could see using one of the other tackles at a TE spot in special down/distance situations. But to have them on the field routinely would make the Cats pretty 1-dimensional. At least with a TE that CAN catch, there is the threat of a pass to him.
The bottom line is --- if the TE is open, I'm sure Travis will get the ball to him on occasion. The only way Travis doesn't throw to him sometimes, is if the TE isn't running a pattern.

Kramer also said that transfer tight end Zach Teisher is back in San Diego and is expected to withdraw from school after falling behind in his classes.
