From the ISU recruiting site: their fall 2004 BB recruits are as follows:
Chawn may be their #1 spring recruit, but they have signed 2 BF last fall. Taggart was also fairly highly rated.
Signed Letter of Intent
Name Pos Stars Ht/Wt Rank Hometown
Farnold Degand PG 6-4/165 NR Boston, MA
Kellen Lee C 7-0/200 NR Laurinburg, NC
Ross Marsden PF 6-10/210 NR Ames, IA
Shawn Taggart PF 6-9/215 NR Richmond, VA
Committed/Not Yet Signed
Name Pos Stars Ht/Wt Rank Hometown
Mike Evanovich SF 6-8/215 NR South Kent, CT
Add to this list
Jiri Hubalek 6-foot-11/220 Marshalltown Comm College (3 year ellig.)
Who commited over the week end. That gives Iowa State 6 incoming (5 posts or big forward) players and only 3 seniors. How many more big guys can they sign. Maybe Durham should head over to Iowa and catch some cast offs.

When I was in Iowa for spring break, I ended up playing a game of pickup ball with Jiri (the new signee for ISU), Peschong (a recruit for ISU), and Brandon Barber (a guy who plays for the Marshalltown CC with Jiri). Jiri is skinny and gets pushed around in the post by a shorter, wider body, but can dunk at will on pretty much anyone. That is what you get for being 6'11", but he looked taller than that to tell you the truth. It just so happens that my spring break occurred in a "hot-topic" area of this discussion. I don't think anyone has ever said that about Iowa before today.

OK I hate this!!

I have one source who still claims that Chawn has not Committed,
but claims Chawn did not like his N. Colorado visit. I have another source that has not
heard a thing either way. Both say Iowa State is out of the picture, having just landed
their 7th commitment.
Sorry folks I banged this post out as I was leaving my office. I have cleaned it a little
now

My source said that he is leaning to NCU but has not committed yet. Also said that ISU is out. My next question is Who would go to NCU over Montana St. I hear it smells worst then Missoula there because of a meat packing plant.

Has this kid made the trip to Bozeman? If so, they need to get him up there in the spring and I think that will make his choice VERY EASY.

Alright, now your starting to sound like an egriz'er.
Though I must agree, how could you pick UNC over MSU?

No decision has been made and he has one more visit before he makes his choice.
From what i have heard i don't believe we are out of contention at all yet, so lets all hold on for a bit longer.

if thats the case, if he hated the weather he'll last only a year if we have a normal winter, two if we have a winter like we had this year, hopefully he'll be smart and expect weather like we had

Come on, Chawn, ya gotta come to Montana. Northern Colorado will have a brutal time with it's playing schedule as an independent, they won't get much fan support with the arbitrary home schedule they can assemble without being in a conference. Yeah, maybe you'd be "the man" at Northern, but you'll be "the man" at MSU in no time, maybe not right away but for sure after a year of tutilege under Marvis Moss, Al Baye, and coach Brown. You can help this program continue its strong forward momentum. I'm you saw a few rednecks around town (yeah, Bozeman has em) but Greely will have its share, too. And for the most part, people in Bozeman will be really happy and appreciative that your here. You'll also get a darn good education - better than what you will get at any other schools you are visiting. I've been on and around the MSU campus doing consulting for about a year and this place is wonderful!!

...hey, there's no damn rednecks in Bozo! We're plowboy/cowboys...and some of us beer swilling posters resemble that remark

We just sit back and shake our head at the sophisticated winos...er...whatever

Besides, Bozo is the only place that I've ever been that really loves diversity--where do you think the terms like "Don't knock it till you've tried it" or "Walk a mile in my moccassins" came from?

Ok, I have it from a source today ,that Chawn went to N. Colorado, not overly impressed, not hate, but no bells and whistles. Is on his way or is at Portland State right now hope to know in the next couple of days.
