Which logo do you want to keep, the Montana Hall cupola, that really says something about MSU. I think we definately need a new standardized logo, whether these are our best options I don't know, but I can't really say they are horrible. If I had to choose I would go with the compass logo, though I can't really say why I prefer it over the other one.BobCatFan wrote:Lets keep the one we have and start a tradition. Those new ones are awful.

I do not like either. The compass looks clutsy, very armature graphics.
The" flame in the M" is trendy, cutsy, and will get dated real quick.
Neither portrays a sense of dignity, education, strength, that I want to see. I want some
thing that says simple elegance, but talks of tradition.
I would pick the "Flaming MSU" only because people would get so tired of it that they
would have to come up with something new in a few year. The Compass is god awful.
but is so simple that it could embarrass me for 10 years.

I had the same thoughts about flaming M. In fact, my comments to the website also included the words "cute" and "dated" as how I thought it would look in a couple years.mslacat wrote:I do not like either. The compass looks clutsy, very armature graphics.

I'm with BAC on this one. They didn't make me fall to my knees and weep - but overall I didn't mind either of them. I certainly can't think of a better design. First glance at the Compass one I thought it was a little cheesy... but it's starting to grow on me a little more...
Great time to be a BOBCAT!

Personally I like the compass much better than the other, BUT I think the problem with the compass is that it could be misconstrued as a cross. When recruiting students/athletes we don't want to give the impression that we are a religious school.
My take on option B is very similar to mslacat's, I think that's it's very trendy, and will be outdated quickly.

Now Poor Grizzlies or FTG prominantly displayed would show our heritage--neither has ever embarrassed me and they've both stood the test of time

The problem is that i could take all of the ideas over to the Architecture , Art, and Marketning Graphic Departments at MSU and come up with dozens of better Logoscatatac wrote:I'm with BAC on this one. What is most troublesome to me is that we paid a company has no vested interest in the University $23,000 to come up with something that isn't anything special. I doubt that any of the graphic designers had ever set foot in Montana, let alone on our campus. We have an award winning graphic design program on our campus, and graphic design artists near by who hire MSU graduates that actually care what we are portraying to the outside world.
