Can't quite remember who posted it but it came up last year in one of the ten thousand or so "MSU's schedule is much tougher than Montana's every single year" threads. It went something along the lines of "Last year we played and beat Colorado while they lost to an inferior Iowa". Pretty damn funny. Discussions of the 2007 Griz OOC schedule seemed to really bring out bizarre thoughts.Cledus wrote:Who said that? I'm not denying it. I would find that pretty laughable, too. Wofford won the So Con title last year and defeated App along the way. Many people thought they deserved a seed.
First off this is all opinions and anyone can believe anything they want. Second, In the final regular season rankings of 2007, Wofford was ranked #10 - #13. In the final regular season rankings of 2006, Furman was ranked #3- #5. So, common sense says, that at the time they played, Furman was better. Admittantly, using this example, Wofford was ranked higher in the final rankings.

I admitted that wofford was ranked higher in the final polls. Look at the Final Regular Season rankings. At the time they played Furman was ranked higher than Wofford.

Re: I found your turf!!!!!
Do you really believe that the 2006 Paladins would've had a chance at defeating a team like Appy in 2006 or 2007? Common sense says absolutely not. It's kind of a silly argument, but this Griz fan encourages Cat fans to argue that the 2006 Paladins were better than the 2007 Terriers. And please wear Montana State gear while doing so.Hawks86 wrote:GrizinWashington wrote:Furman better that Wofford is laughable.

1. Use your UM degree and find it yourself.
2.It matters because at the time they played, it could be argued that since Furman was ranked higher they were a better team.
3. Why did you delete your other post?

1. It's your claim, and while I'm not refuting it, the onus is on you to back it up. I can't find any official rankings anywhere.Hawks86 wrote:tampa_griz wrote:1. 2. Using that logic, you could say that Montana was better than Appy at the end of the regular season in 2007 because they were ranked higher. Are you willing to argue that? I wouldn't.
3. I caught your irrelevant "regular season" disclaimer after I submitted it.

1. Hmm. I'm not certain what your msu degree got you, but clearly it wasn't the ability to post factual information.
2. No, they weren't. See below.
If a playoff selection was all they earned, Montana State?s fortunes would not be all that remarkable. But the Bobcats also got a home game with a 7-4 record. And, that home game comes against a Furman team that did not dominate opponents in an 8-3 season and has to travel across the country to Bozeman for a first- round date
http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnf ... 111506.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;15. Furman - 8-3 mark likely has them in playoffs after this week?s bye
http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnf ... 111906.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Now, I'm no mus grad, so correct me if I'm wrong. But I don't think 15 is between 3 and 5.
Furman was 8-3 in 2006, which included a loss to Coastal Carolina and a 40-7 loss at App.
We're all here 'cause we ain't all there.

Sorry...I just started reading this thread, and given how it turned out, I couldn't help but get a chuckle out of this quote. Hopefully one of the two UM grads who handed you your ass on this thread will have the presence of mind to turn this quote into their new sig line.

Re: I found your turf!!!!!
That's fine, I can admit to looking at the wrong info. and jumping to conclusions. I at least admitted that fact with humility. I'm still gonna look at the facts and conclude that both teams were ranked #11 in the GPI index. Furman was 8-3 with a 3pt. loss to FBS North Carolina, a 2 pt. loss to CCU and got blown out by App. State. Wofford was 8-3 with a 21 pt. loss to FBS N.C. State, an 11 pt. loss to Elon, and a 3 pt. loss to Georgia Southern. So, with all that a person could reasonably conclude that Furman was as good as Wofford and the conclusion of Griz.Wa that" Furman better than Wofford is laughable." is not true. Also GrizWa said that Furman was ranked 15th but that was just Matt Dougherty's personal ranking and other polls had them as high as #7 at that time. The highest ranking Wofford had was #10.
I really don't care either way and certainly did get my ass handed to me, somewhat, and as Forrest Gump said "that's all I got to say about that."

Re: I found your turf!!!!!
Exactly what Hawks86 said. Its an opinion. I thought Furman was a highly touted team that many people thought would come in and dominate us. They were covered more and people thought they were a great team that year and especially better than a 7-4 team that somehow got a home playoff game. IMO wofford was a good team...that teams just overlooked.
I love the Bobcats and the Miami Hurricanes an unhealthy level

I've often noticed that most Cat fans implement the "we're the smarter bunch!" chest-pounding rhetoric when they're dead wrong (i.e. "if you weren't such a dumb UM grad you'd know the sun revolves around the earth you idiot!"). I'd take your advice and throw his jab in my sig but it's just too easy. Reminds of people that fight drunks....what's the point?Grizlaw wrote:Hawks86 wrote:1. Lighten up Francis. I (politiely) asked Hawks where he was getting his info. He responded with a smart-ass "use your UM degree and look it up". When you're in the smack forum castigating someon'e alma mater for being too stupid look up information that doesn't exist only to have that information corrected by people educated at said school........well.......MSU Toddler wrote:i've never, ever, ever, never heard of a griz fan doing something like this either....shame on you guys.I've often noticed that most Cat fans implement the "we're the smarter bunch!" chest-pounding rhetoric when they're dead wrong
