Congrats to both the Men's and Women's athletic programs. Note that the standings are actually based upon average points earned per sport which explains how MSU women finished ahead of Idaho State with fewer points since MSU doesn't sponsor women's soccer. Point averages were:
Men's - Average Points per Sport
NAU - 12.7
Weber - 11.5
MSU - 10.5
ISU - 9.7
UM - 8.8
EWU - 7.8
Sac St. - 7.5
PSU - 3.8
Women's - Average Points per Sport
Weber - 11.5
NAU - 10.6
MSU - 9.3
ISU - 8.5
UM - 8.4
EWU - 7.9
Sac St. - 7.0
PSU - 6.0
Interesting to see that with the exception of Weber and NAU trading first the standings are exactly the same for Men's and Women's. Also interesting to speculate on where the Men's side could have ended up had the BB team pulled out a couple more of their games.
I am looking forward to seeing the full President's Cup standings where they include gpa's, grad rates and 3.0 all-conference players. I am glad they came out with this award as I think it truly shows who is doing best at the full range of things that college athletics is about.
