Wise choices.

We know what our kids can do; much better choice to start game preparations than having our kids continue beating each other to a pulp.

I love scrims, think they have good payout, but I agree with you on this one. I keep thinking of how many players are nursing minor injuries that they have not reported to the trainers. Alot of players competing for time don't want to report a minor injury when they are so close to spring break, with a chance to heal up unnoticed. Throw these guys out on a slick field in cooler weather, what can be awaiting us? Yea, I know and agree, football in played in adverse conditions, I agree, but it is coming at a high cost this spring! I'll bet with one more key injury coaches are gonna wish they had bagged it this week. Bottom line, we had two great scrims, got some good looks. Might have to be good enough for this spring. The question still remains, bad luck, over play in scrims, or conditioning? I sure can't figure it out!

As usual bearbac, you missed the point here at Bobcat Nation. We had 2 great scrims, both exceeded my expectations. While I did not attend your scrims, two close friends of mine with kids playing for the Griz attended one of our scrims, both commented that our GTF scrim was impressive, surprised by the execution. And, most of our questions were answered at the conclusion of 2 scrims. Just browsed your board, looks like you still have some unanswered questions. Bottom line, my questions were answered in only two scrim. Feel pretty good about what I saw after 2 scrims, have a good idea what we will see in fall camp. Scrim or no Scrim, either works for me, just trying to apply some logic to a physical game. No smack needed here, next falls W/L record will tell the story. I would not venture to argue with final scores. As for injuries, I'm on the soft end since I am nursing some youthful injuries that prevent me from living life to it's full poetential. The great aspect of football, the season will validate all off season descisions.

Thank you. As usual somebody said it much better than I can. We had virtually the entire offense returning and with what they did last year, who needed to see what we all know those kids can accomplish? Our questions about the defense we pretty much satisfied in Great Falls and we know we've got a high school kid coming in that'll now be forced to compete with some redshirts for playtime this fall on the DL
When you've got your own kids playing against each other and they bounce back and forth between offense and defense, know the plays, you're asking for trouble. It's time to start tweaking special teams and living in the film room, whirlpools...and take care of the bodies we've got left because I for one am pretty confident we're the old, physical Cats again.

I assume you were referring to Kramers quote on an indoor practice facility.Cat Grad wrote:http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentSe ... 5&ssid=299

Before going any further, can we all agree that there is a drawback to practicing in an indoor facility during the season. Simply put, if you're going to play in the slop or snow, you'd better put in some practice time in the slop or snow.
With that said, check out these two facilities:
http://osubeavers.collegesports.com/sch ... truax.html
http://lightingdesignlab.com/locations/ ... ofsky.html
Both are in oregon and make for the possibilities of a quality practice regardless of weather conditions. I've been in both and the Truax get's my vote eventhough it's the smaller of the two. It's FieldTurf is much more user friendly than the Nexturf in the Moshofsky.
Champcat in an earlier post said, "Collegiate athletics in the United States today has become an arms race for who can get the best equipment/apparel/facilities/etc.. for the ATHLETES! The theory behind this being (borrowed from a great Kevin Costner flick) "if you build it, they will come." Meaning, create an atmosphere that will lure better athletes that would not have considered Montana State had you not dangled a carrot in front of them."
I am for anything (ethical and legal) that would give coach Kramer and the team an advantage. Where's my checkbook.

How about this to solve all our problems.....an indoor/outdoor practice area that has a retractable roof and turf. In the spring we leave the roof on so that we are sure to get our days in and then in the fall/winter we retract the roof during weeks we are going to be playing outside and for games at ISU, NAU, etc. we practice inside. Perfect, now we just need a couple extra million or 20 and its set!

You keep saying those words. I do not think they mean what you think they mean.2Cats wrote:I like it. I need another couple six-packs--now
Now I don't mean to maybe change the tone a bit, but I remember distinctly during the late 60s and clear through the late 70s when I finally got my degree
the Cats practicing in the fieldhouse. I watched the Cat-Fizz game and couldn't help but wonder: are we using this facility for a storage shed now? Perhaps 53000 could help out some, but aren't the locker rooms still in the fieldhouse?
