Wow!!! Using that logic, Carroll College fans should burn their purple and gold jackets and apologize for winning the NAIA Championship in football and for making the NAIA National semis in basketball...

And the cats should apologize for winning the 1956(?) NAIA football championship as well as the 1976 Division II football championship and the 1984 Division 1-AA football championship... :?

What is it with you???

The nation isn't laughing at UM or anybody else in the lower football divisions...and if they are, they must think that teams that LOSE in the lower divisions are hysterical!

I don't think they laugh at the other teams (actually their "fans"), just you goof balls. Hell, you've even tried to go into SEC, ACC and Big East country and were so damn stupid you tried to mock them in public for not giving a sh-it whether or not you were playing for a "national championship." I think all of the responses to Devlin's published embarrassment should suffice anything you may say in the future. Good night, and excuse me for not bowing to the Fizzle god.

Wow, I feel your pain! I won't apologize for enjoying and celebrating the success of the Griz programs. You and your Griz hatred can wallow in self pity or loathing of successful programs and criticize their fans as band wagoners or fools or whatever...you are correct in one thing: SEC or ACC or big time conference fans couldn't care less about UM or msu or the BSC. But, YOU DO! And, you would gladly trade the success of UM over the past 20 years for msu's results...

I believe you are in the minority of cat fans who feel this way. They may "hate" the Griz but I believe more of them love their cats than truly hate UM. What they hate is the fact that the Griz are consistently in the top of the conference and consistently break the hearts of the cats in football, men's basketball and women's basketball. I know the Bozeman area fans I deal with would be just as loud and proud of their cats are we are the Griz, provided they won from time to time...and you would too! Get off your high horse (or is it high chair) and join the fun!

It's funny, because griz fans think we are horribly obnoxious when we win, and really bitter when we lose.

Basically when we win, we have the same attitude as griz fans. Kind of annoying isn't it?

It is easy to hate a program because they consistently win, but you can still be a constant winning program and not have everyone hate you.

For examply, I don't hate the Patriots, Lakers (when they were winning), or Avalanche. Most of the teams I hate I hate because they are rivals of my team. I hate the Yanks cuz I'm an Orioles fan, I hate the Niners cuz they are a Rams rival, and I HATE the Red Wings because I'm a big Blues fan.

I hate the griz because I'm a big Cat fan. I'd hate them if we won 30 in a row, I'd hate them if we lost 30 in a row. I wouldn't be near as bitter if we won 30 in a row, but I would certainly hate you guys just as much.

The problem with so many winning programs is the fans become so arrogant and condescending, they are 50% of the reason the team itself is hated. As a previous fan of the Griz, I did get sick of the attitude of the people around me at the games, and just everywhere. When I became a Cat fan, I just meshed better with the fans. I will agree the hatred is a lot more one-sided now, but a couple more wins and that will start shifting again.

PS - For those curious, I was a Griz fan since I was little, my parents were both UM grads. I was never a huge fan, mostly because I didn't care about IAA football whatsoever, I just liked to watch football and lived in Missoula. I went to MSU, even though I wanted to go to UM, I decided I wanted an education. ;) Went to MSU, became a huge Cat fan, and IAA fan, end of story. Now I don't even really like IA football.

I was born/raised a Bobcat so the 'Rivalry' runs deep in me. So I won't say anything about the Griz fans since I know I would be biased :)

HOWEVER, I do know quite a few people I know who are from out of state and moved here (most of them I work with) and they noticed the Griz attitude RIGHT AWAY when they got here they said. 2-3 of those are now Bobcat season ticket holders :)

The most embarrassed I've been is in Chattanooga; try telling them they're acting like asses and they represent our whole state and that's just fuel on the fire! I had a hard time convincing friends and in-laws that it's just the school and their fans, not the entire state. I really am embarrassed of and for them, but unfortunately...

Are you kidding??? I was in Chattanooga...Griz fans were the best, treated the town and its folks with courtesy and class. We had a GREAT time, celebrated the success of our team and enjoyed the best party of the year...

Get over it! This junior high school crybabying is akin to criticizing the jocks when you are in the band...Strike up that trumpet there Cat Grad, and play me a sad song...

Having been around Cat/Griz, and a part of it since I was old enough to remember, I don't think the fans at either institution have changed that much over the years. I have a vivid memory of the 'haters' at Dornblaser in the olden days, and to tell you the truth, 'they' still give the coaching staff just a ton of grief at Washington-Concrete. Friz fans are either hatin' the opposing team or their own coaching staff - they are very troubled.

Don't get me wrong I've lived in Montana 19 years of my 22 long years, born and raised, I know all about the rivalry. Just never cared about local football very much, mainly because when I was 4-7 years old I lived in Phoenix and I got to see the Suns and Cardinals, so I kinda got big on pro sports and didn't give a crap about college sports. I didn't get die-hard about it until I went to MSU.

Is it possible that you are both right? I'm not sure either of you can speak for all Griz fans that were at the game ... maybe just the ones that you were around at any particular time?

Okay, the Suns I can understand(woohoo, championship bound baby!!!!) but saying that you were big on pro football cause you watched the Cardinals is like saying I'm big into English Premier League Soccer cause I've been watching the Bozeman Hawk soccer team alot.

Poor analogy, I think you should substitute the Three Forks U12 girls soccer team in for the Bozeman Hawk soccer team, that makes the analogy work better!!

I thought about something like that but I didn't want to get accused of over-exaggerating.

Anyway, Cat fans are pretty much in agreement. The Fizz and their fans are the institutions we dislike and the foreign posters in here substantiate and validate our reasons why. Thanks Bozo...

Hey, the Cards aren't my favorite team. Rams baby, been a Rams fan since 90.

Just the fact that I got to see pro teams play hooked me on pro football.

I also got to see the... (Fiesta Bowl) between FSU and Nebraska. Also went to a lot of Sun Devils games, but pro football was just it for me. ;)

I got to see the Neil Lomax Cardinals, so they weren't AWFUL back in the 80s. :P Okay maybe they were. ;)

I could never keep track of the college players coming and leaving. But then the FA hit and same thing happened to the NFL. :)

As a Griz fan, I feel very fortunate for the success we have had in recent years. I come from a very Griz oriented family, as over half of my family has had some form of education here.

I also feel that sometimes our fans may be rude, and come off as obnoxious. If the tables had been turned, and the Cats had beaten us 16 consecutive years, would we still be the same as we are? College sports is a very up and down existence, and we could be lowered just as quickly as we have risen.

I see the point, however, I refuse to let the cat folks off the hook here...After beating the Griz for 2 consecutive years in football  KO's had the score up on their marquee for a year!!! Now, I never saw anything like that in Missoula...

But that's ok, I have no problem with the cats hating the Griz, thats what rivalry is all about...But don't give me all this crap about the rotten Griz fan before you look in the mirror!!!
