Who will be the team to beat in the BSC?

I think that the team to beat this year will be EWU. Of course, I think that the CATS will win because I am an optimist, but I really think that EWU will be tough.

On paper I think EW should be the favorite to win this year (and football isn't played on paper). They have OL and defense questions as well this year so we will see. Again, I think the Big Sky winner comes down to the MSU/UM/EWU. Whoever beats the other 2 teams will be the Big Sky Champion in my opinion.

I agree completely. Can't wait to see the matchups against the other two again this year. EWU's offense looks scary good to me.

The good and the bad is that EWU goes to um and we go to EWU. EWU always play the griz tough, so maybe an EWU win in msla and us beating them both should put the CATS in the driver seat?? Are any of the other teams looking good on paper? I expect most people will say EW, um, and MSU.

EWU, Portland State, NAU, UM, Sac, ISU, WSU in that order.

With our top nine players coming back, a 6-10 transfer center, a JC player who will be the best shooter we have had since Sprinkle or maybe longer, and the best freshman big man since Holmquist all joining the team next year the presure will clearly put on Durham Shoulders. I thought the Griz would also be there but after jettinson at least 4 (maybe more) players along with Davis, and a almost non-existant (so far) spring recruiting period they are looking paper thin right now. Weber, NAU are looking real good for next year. ISU, EWU, PSU, look like they are taking a step backwards. I have not got a clear picture yet on Sac. State.

My listing above isn't even necessarily how I think the league will finish. I just think that's the order of difficulty for the CATS.

PS..good one, mslacat. It's all a matter of perspective and importance.

That cracks me up mslacat. I love the analysis of the hoops team inside an assumed football thread!

Good natured mocking of the Griz aside, EWU made the mistake of giving the Griz fans a few pages worth of bulletin board material after last year's loss in Cheney. EWU will have to win in Missoula if they want to be the front runner in the 'Sky. Gecko says it ain't happening, even with Meyer and Kimble coming back. That means EWU will need 2 Griz losses to take the 'Sky if they win the rest of their conference games.

Gecko's picks in order of finish.
Montana, EWU, Montana State, NAU / Bungles,Porkland State,Mildcats, and Suc State.

Montana State is the hardest to pick in the 'Sky, as I see a lot of variability in the performance of the Bobcats.
