Thanks, and no worries. I kind of "hid" it on the connections board because I didn't want to give the appearance that I was doing the opening scene of the Lion King by making the announcement on one of the more popular boards.

And frankly, I don't trust that dang ol' monkey to hold Kai over a cliff anyway ... that's just dangerous.

Since someone else mentioned griz diapers I thought that I would share a potty training trick. Empty the water in the toilet and paint the griz logo on the porcelain. Refill and watch the new found excitement........my kids were instantly potty trained.

38 hours? Good Grief! My cousin's first was just about as long before they decided to do a C-Section. I dunno why doctors just can't get out the scalpel after like 6 and say "we're goin' in!"

We had a doula in our camp ... and they are the ones who go to great lengths to make sure that doctors don't do just that. The whole natural child birth thing was the ideal vision of my wife going in ... but that vision was pretty much destroyed over and over and over by a less-than-ideal reality (I am much more enthusiastic about modern medicine and it's role in the birthing process than my wife and our doula -- or any doula, in case it wasn't already obvious ).

In retrospect, knowing what we know now, your suggestion would have been the best answer, though.

--After the hearty congrats. Sneaky hiding it in the connections forum. Like I've said before, one will be really easy, you don't really get into being a skilled parent until you have two at once.

But it's good times now. No sleep or communication with the little creature, but your wife will get skinnier by the day and the sight of boobs is an almost constant experience. If only you could touch them.

Great times are ahead, good luck and congratulations.


But yeah, did you know that the US ob/gyn practice is not nearly as efficient and safe as countries that tend to rely more on midwives and less intervention? I am sorry that your wife had such a tough experience and I am glad for the abilities of doctors that perform c-sections. But they usually are only needed in about 2% to 3% of cases, and yet account for (I think) over 20% of the births in this country.

Anyways, I know way more about this subject than I ever thought I would.
