Go Griz. Go Cats. Cledus, if it matters, someone told you some wrong information. There never was a time when the Griz considered new colors, except for 1971 when football coach Jack Swarthout changed our uniform colors from maroon and silver to copper, gold, and silver. Swarthout had a Texas connection in his history and he thought the Longhorn burnt orange looked good. I always thought the orange/copper and gold looked a little bit like turd and piss. I, for one, was pleased when the Griz switched back to our original maroon and silver in '96. There's no reason Cat fans should care about any of this UM uniform color history, but since you brought it up, a little accuracy isn't a bad thing. Here's to a great year for blue and gold as well as the maroon and silver.

Actually the official jizz colors have always been gold copper and silver. They adopted the dark pink and silver as "spirit colors."

Maybe you should get your facts straight before you try to sound intelligent, which in this case was an epic fail for you.

University Colors
The University's colors are copper, silver and gold, stemming from Montana's history of mining. However, the combination of these three colors is difficult to produce consistently. In the past, when the color copper was unavailable in ink, maroon was used to represent copper. In the 1970s, the color copper was represented by orange. With the successful use of maroon in the 1993 Centennial Celebration, the University returned to its original colors.

Maroon was substituted for copper in UM's official copper-silver-gold color scheme in letter sweaters and uniforms until 1967 when Coach Jack Swarthout replaced it with Texas orange, a color change that lasted until the end of the 1995 season. Today maroon and silver are the official colors of UM’s branded line of clothing.

Duh. And TIrwin24 said I was talking out my you-know-what when I said the original uniform colors were maroon and UM returned to the origional maroon in '96. Thank you, Hawks86. So, back to my original point, I always thought the Griz should have kept their original maroon instead of experimenting with "copper." TIrwin24, have anything to say?

He and the rest of the geniuses at BN say you don't know what you're talking about. So FTG and your dark pink fizzlies. We're smart and original here.

I stand corrected. I originally thought you were talking about the original colors in general.
