3. Travis Lulay, Montana State (Sr., 6-2, 205) - After leading the Bobcats to a share of the Big Sky title and playoff berths in 2002 and 2003, Lulay posted perhaps his best statistical season to keep Montana State in the playoff mix until mid-November in 2004. Despite throwing only 15 touchdown passes and nine interceptions, Lulay accumulated 3,485 yards and averaged 316.8 yards per game. In addition, Lulay ran for 371 yards and eight touchdowns and always seemed to come up big in crunch time. Lulay led the Bobcats to four consecutive comeback wins in October, and directed the offense to gamewinning or tying drives in the final two minutes on three occasions. While Eastern Washington dashed the Bobcats’ playoff hopes, Lulay did all he could in the 51-44 overtime loss on November 12. He threw for 432 yards and rushed for 110, and the 542 yards of total offense marked the 35th best day in Division I-AA history.

Thanks for the post. I think the way the "O" is stacking up this could well be a "super" year for Travis.

Eric Meyer is still going to be scary. That guy has a lot of talent and in my book they are the team to beat in the Big Sky. The rest will be a walk in the park for the Cat's.

Eastern is a huge threat. However, its all "what if's" and well see what really happens when the season starts.

Eastern should be the favorite, but they also have some ???? on offense (OL) and defense still. We couldn't stop them with our banged up secondary, but we did score at will on them with a one dimensional offense as well. It again will be a battle this year I think. If we come at them with a balanced attack on offense and chew up the clock I say we beat them this year. We put their offense on the field too much in the 2nd half last year where we could have been doing ball control running game (had we been consistent at running the ball). This year I think we have that. That will make a big difference.

Here is something that isn’t a “what if”… The Griz will finish 3rd in the conference at best… POOR GRIZ!!!

That's an interesting quote given the fact that the last time the Cats had a walk in the park was about 30 years ago. It will be a very good year if the Cats win 8 games.

I like the confidence, though.

I almost said something about the Griz too. Eastern plays them at WA/Griz and one thing is for certain. They will put the screws to them.

The Lulay and Meyer show

Post by blazerbird » Thu May 19, 2005 10:28 pm

I'm sure glad my Eagles play you in Cheney this year. I'll never see another comeback like last year's. I really like Lulay and the rest of your team. You've got size and speed, and of course a smart coach. There will be some very good teams in the Sky this year and I hope the Eagles are the best, but I'll be happy if the Cats are up there at the top with the Griz out of the picture. Here's to two Griz losses at the hands of the Eagles and Bobcats!

This is kind of the reason that I have never hated Eastern. After games that we would win or lose to Eastern all the players would say, “beat the Griz.”
