Weber State Women, Montana State Men Capture All-Sports Trophies
Congrats to the Bobcat Men's teams, an outstanding accomplishment. The men were far and away the winners with 14.5 points/sport compared to next closest Montana with only 10.3 per sport.
The springs sports championships in Tennis and Track & Field also put MSU in the lead for the Presidents cup with only the Spring academics yet to be figured in.
Congratulations to everyone in the MSU Athletics department and thanks for making it easy to be a proud MSU alum!!

Congrats to ALL the Student/Athletes at MSU as it appears we'll take home the President's Trophy as well. Looking ahead, I love our chances of repeating next season as well:
Football: we all know what we're expecting
Volleyball: lost just 2 players from last year's strong squad
Men's BBall: 2nd in conference and what appears to be a STRONG recruiting class should result in nothing but improvement
Women's BBall: Obviously will be better with new energy/attitude from new coach
Add in strong track/field, cross country, and tennis squads and I'd say things look OUTSTANDING for the ATHLETIC department at THE Montana State University...

MSU Sports info release on this:
BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Spurred by a strong finish to the 2004-05
sports season and powered by top three finishes in all six sports,
Montana State won the 2004-05 Big Sky Conference Men's All-Sports
Trophy, Big Sky Conference Commissioner Doug Fullerton announced
Thursday.
Montana State dominated the men's sports scene in the Big Sky
this year, although its first two championships came only in the last
month. The Bobcat men's tennis team won their second straight Big Sky
Championship in April, advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the second
straight season, while the men's track team won its first-ever Big Sky
crown two weeks ago in Flagstaff.
Peter Fields, in his fourth year as Montana State's Director of
Intercollegiate Athletics, said the men's all-sports crown -- MSU's
second in the past three years -- is an indication of the program's
broad-based success. "Our men's teams each finished in the top three in
the Big Sky Conference," Fields said. "That shows that we are extremely
competitive, across the board. Our coaches and student-athletes worked
extremely hard to get to this level, and they are working extremely hard
to stay there. The University, the Bozeman community, and Bobcat fans
everywhere have reason to be extremely proud of this achievement."
MSU finished fifth in the women's Big Sky All-Sports Trophy
standings. The MSU cross country, volleyball and outdoor track teams led
the way, each finishing third. "We can improve in this area, and I'm
confident with the coaches in place that the 2005-06 academic year will
be exciting," Fields said.
Montana State's men dominated the final standings, compiling 87
total points, far outdistancing Montana's 62 points. MSU's average of
14.5 points per sport topped UM's 10.3 and the 9.4 produced by Portland
State. NAU finished with 8.3 points per sport, edging Eastern Washington
(8.2), Weber State (8.0), Idaho State (7.7), and Sacramento State (6.8).
The Bobcats previously won Men's All-Sports Trophy races in
2003, 1967, and '65.
The Big Sky Conference also announced that MSU remains in a
tight battle for the third Sterling Bank President's Cup, awarded to the
Big Sky Conference's top program in terms of athletic achievement and
academic success. MSU, Montana, Eastern Washington, Northern Arizona and
Weber State remain in competition, decided after all schools submit
spring semester academic information in June.

Sterling Bank President's Cup will be a great addition to MSU's resume of excelence. It is so great to see the level of success in all athletics across the board, just a great accomplishment!
