I read that to say Joey has actually gained ground on Carroll. I hope he gets a chance to start. Joey really struggled last season in the dime packages and looked lost most of the time. I think a starting cover corner position would fit him a lot better.

At this point, Joey Thomas would appear to have a clear edge over Ahmad Carroll in the battle for the starting cornerback spot opposite Al Harris. Thomas was consistently better in coverage, made fewer mistakes and more big plays than Carroll.
