I'll never forgive Malone (God rest his soul) for letting us loose the Rodeo and not acting when we had a chance to get it back.

The biggest problem with rodeo is the fact that it is not a santioned sport by the NCAA. It has certainly had success at MSU and the community derived a lot from the CNFR.

I really don't see anything new being added to MSU athletics unless it's necessary to comply with gender equity.

In that order...baseball would never work in Bozeman. Gavin, you might be the only kid who would have played in rain and snow instead of sunshine elsewhere. Hot sun, hot coeds, and year-round baseball. You won't get that in Bozeman.

Most of the kids I know who are looking to play baseball in college or JC look at California and Arizona, even though there are plenty of opporunities in Washington.
I think baseball would go over well. Both Dawson and Miles City have done very well on a JC level and I expect Billings to be very sucessful. When Dawson added baseball it was an easy choice because it was a cheap start up sport. The obvious problem is no conference play.

Well, I took a scholarship to UND, so you may be right about that! But if they can play in Nodak, it shouldn't be a problem in Bozo.

Interesting...heck, I didn't even know that Glendive and MC had JC baseball.

I agree that Billings' program will be successful, but maybe at the detriment of Dawson's and MC's teams perhaps? Or, perhaps there will just more opportunity - don't know.

Back to rodeo......it proabbly wouldn't work because the bulls couldn't pass the drug tests.

The are countless universities that have one sport in one conference and some or all in others. This goes from Football to off sports such as Men's Volleyball (where UCLA and USC play in a league with Long Beach and not the Pac 10). Football examples are Navy, Army, ND. Basketball example is Cal Davis plays with Gonzaga now for Basketball and Football in with Cal Poly and others.

So finding a conference if you want would be easy.

Actually a simple sport to add would be Women's soccer.
The Big Sky actually has teams that play in the BSC.
NAU, Montana, Eastern Washington, Portland State, Sacramento State, Idaho State, Weber.

Wait, that means that MSU is the ONLY BSC school that doesn't have women's soccer.
Even incoming Northern Colorado does.

On other sports in the BSC:
Weber State also has Men's golf
Sac State has Baseball (playing in a conference with UC Irvine, Fresno, etc.)
Portland State has wrestling in Pacific-10 conference.

EVEN BSC want-a-be NDSU has Men's baseball, Wrestling, and Golf. Women's Softball and Soccer. MSU could join a conference with them in any of these sports.

So it's possible everywhere, just takes money because only football pays it's own way. The rest of the sports tend to cost money!!! Rather than a new sport, would rather have a stadium expansion instead with that fake green stuff (replacing grass). Oh, different threads, sorry.

Pretty much if you add another sport it would just be one more sport that no one would watch. I think fans would watch hockey or maybe rodeo, but after that you would have empty seats. I don't think the line would be going out the door to buy tickets for women's soccer... (I would watch wrestling, but I am sure I am one of few).

Yeah, I'd watch women's wrestling too. Can't make up my mind whether I'd rather watch jello or mud though. Did anybody mention gymnastics
