And James Madison also had a BRUISING offensive line. Again, something I hope is similiar with this years Cats team. I really hope they can play Bolton inside this year. I know his size/athleticism helps us out on the outside for pass protection, but he is a bruiser inside for opening up holes in the running game too.Cat Grad wrote:UMASS in 98 and last year James Madison are two teams to win the title playing all games on the road. Both were overpowering and had a defense that's similar to what we'll have on the field this year.
Interesting stats on 1-AA playoff history/home field

If you can get up for a GRIZ/cat game, what game can you get up for?catatac wrote:Good points Law. And as long as we're speculating here, if the Bobcats wouldn't have imploded against Eastern and blown the 31 - 10 lead, I really think we would have given you a much better game in Missoula. Not saying we would have beaten you, but I bet it would have gone down to the wire. In fact, I'm surprised you didn't beat us by more that day, considering the mental state our team must have been in. I know it's Cat\Griz and all but that Eastern meltdown was a crushing blow. To rebound from the embarrasing Sac State loss and basically dominate what was IMO the hottest team in the country for the 1st 2 1\2 quarters, then blow it... talk about an emotional roller-coaster...

I've got to agree with eastcoast, you are telling us that the cat players aren't mental strong enough to get up for the biggest rivalry game of the year. That if they can't win it all, they might as well just give up trying?
I don't believe this, Kramer would not allow that kind of B.S., and I though Lulay was a fierce competitor. You are telling me that he is not, but only plays hard when the conference title is on the line? B.S., the cats were plenty up for the game, I must have more faith in them that you guys.
I'd rather take a whooping and know that I gave it my all, than to loose and say it was because I was mentally strong enough, but that if I was a little mentally stronger I could have won.

UM had a better team than MSU last year, no doubt about it. MSU was probably more 'up' for that game than any all year, but still when you play this game with the league title on the line there's a difference from when it's not on the line. Pretty subtle, but it's there. UM was probably affected by the fact that the C/G wasn't for the league title, too. Again, it was subtle.
'IF' the game had been for the league title UM still would've won as decidely as it did, because it was just better and there's no two ways about that.

When you have the best record in the conference, rated in the top 10 nationally (again), have the BSC Championship in your back pocket (again), getting ready for the playoffs (again), the state bragging rights just aren’t that important.Helcat72 wrote:I hope we are able to see how "UP" the Griz are if they are playing for nothing but statewide bragging rights in Bozeman this year.
Someday maybe you cats will understand this.

It'll be interesting to see if indeed that is what transpires this November...whatever happens is in the future, not in the past, so I would say we have as good a chance as anyone to make a couple of those (agains) "not this time"Eastcoastgriz wrote:When you have the best record in the conference, rated in the top 10 nationally (again), have the BSC Championship in your back pocket (again), getting ready for the playoffs (again), the state bragging rights just aren’t that important.Helcat72 wrote:I hope we are able to see how "UP" the Griz are if they are playing for nothing but statewide bragging rights in Bozeman this year.
