I was shocked that in Glasgow it was about 50/50. An agriculture town rooting for Griz? Of course most of those Griz fans new nothing about UM- they were fair weather fans big time.
Glascow prolly has a large amount of Dickenson State gear!

Montana State IS what "they" think Montana is.

Not that I would ever defend that hole of a town they call Missoula, but the community there really does embrace the whole university especially the Football and Girls Basketball teams. Here in Bozeman a lot of people seem almost embarassed that we are a college town. Hardly anything ever done in this town is with the college in mind or to promote the college, its all about being showing off how rich or important you are and changing everything they claimed to have moved here for. I love the cats but I am getting a very bad taste in my mouth in regards to Bozeman, and I've spent all but 2-3 years of my life in and around Bozeman and loving it.

The devil made me do it the first time... the second time I done it on my own.

I think it's just a matter of perspective. As a past pres. of MSU/ASA, most , if not all, of the longtime business owners are great Bobcat supporters. You are probably referring to the "downtown" area, which is still a vital part Bozeman, opposed to other cities in Montana.

Unfortunately most of the downtown businesses are owned by folks who moved here and and opened a "niche" business to cater to tourists and the new folks to the area. They have no affiliiations either to Bozeman or MSU. Just facts.

The upside is that there are still "downtown" businesses that are staunch Bobcat supporters and they do show "Blue & Gold".

The same is true outside of "downtown" and the rest of the area in the Gallatin Valley.

The businesses in the other city are more than likely just caught up in the the hype. Hopefully the same will happen here after this season.

As far as your comment that "a lot of people seem almost embarrassed that we are college town", I hope that they all belong all belong to MSU/ASA- aka "Bobcat Boosters".

I love that big GO CATS in the window of that business in Missoula, I can't remember where it is exactly... it's either near downtown or above that underground bridge place. My memory is going. ;)

Not something you are going to hear to many Bobcats bragging about. Hell he was wearing Griz gear! I would not be caught dead in maroon in silver!
i forgot about that...rather selectively i might add...damnit! oh well i didnt vote for him anyways.

btw did you hear his graduation speach at msu this year? he sounded like a spoiled brat who finally got his much needed trophy that he was robbed of a couple of decades ago...what a moron

It's in the Morrison and Maierle office (I hear they're a bunch of bums  )....an engineering firm above the Orange Street Tunnel.

There was also a big Go Cats sign in the window of one of the tallest buildings (I think on orange or russell).

being a recent graduate of MSU and having sat through that disaster of a speech, i was almost embaressed to say that at one point schweitzer was a bobcat, so i couldn't agree with you more. as for the actual post, i am also from great falls and have seen the support that it churns out for the cats and it is amazing. with events such as the blue/gold scrum, even people like my siblings who claim to be "griz fans" go out and show support of the team when they are there. the bobcat boosters there are fantastic in trying to involve the athletic community from MSU with the great falls residents. just my two cents in on my first post. cheers.

Well then there are probably more MSU alums working there than dUMb alums. Not smack, just fact!

HA! dUMb alums - I crack myself up sometimes!

If you went by percentages, Two Dot/Harlow area would probably take the cake. Many great Lineman come from the Harlow area. One is on the squad this year. They grow 'em big in Wheatland County, and are loyal to MSU.

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

In all honesty, the largest hotbed of Cat fans, in the world, can be found in Polaris, MT.

I remember once going through Livingston which I guess you would say is Bobcat country after the 2000 game when the Cats stunk it up all over the place and went 0-11 and there was a HUGE "15 STRAIGHT OVER STATE" sign hanging from one of the buildings. It was grand.

The MSU students showing loyalty to their team during the 99 asskicking was great too -- they were throwing trash at the Cat bench!! Classic...

Nice job of going back 5 years Nick.
I know you girlzies are a little slow, but try to live in the now. Even your small narrow mind must recognize the large and growing support for the Cats all over the State. Conversly, one more year with baby hack and I'm thinking most girzlies "fans" will take their loud "look at me, I'm a girlzie, aint I special" apparel off and wait for a better day. A quick quiz for you girlz fans, can you define the word bandwagon? This year will be a true test to see how many fans are left after a mediocre season. I'm thinking the alumni in mazolla will be asking for hack's head.
Since you went back in time, I will too. I talked to a Bobcat player who was on the team that beat the girlz in 2002. He said wash/girlz was 1/2 empty after halftime. Instead of throwing trash, the girlz fans went home, lit a bowl, and tried to forget about that bad trip man.

Actually,,,, Your right! It should be. We should dominate the farming communities but we don't in some cases. Very surprising since these areas represent TRUE Montanan's. MSU has always been THE University in the State. It represents the true Montana. I can't imagine a TRUE Montanan supporting a Liberal Arts School. Many people just like to cheer for a winner. And while I think that shows poor character I am not in their shoes and will not judge them too harshly. Choosing to go to school at U of M is another matter and since I did not study abnormal psychology I will not comment.

Blah blah blah I think I've heard this every year and especially on Bobcatnation last year but the Griz ho hummed through the playoffs again.

Use your head about that 2002 game. Every Griz game is half empty for the first few minutes of the 3rd quarter because not everyone is back from tailgating....Much like what I saw during the three times I've been in Bozo. Do you think the fans would go home because of a 3-0 halftime defecit?

Anyway my apologies for the out of nowhere smack post everyone. I have not been here in a while and no one has been stirring the pot over on the eGriz smack board -- it's real boring. There are too many civil posts between UM and MSU fans. It's real scary.
