online dating

Post by briannell » Mon Jun 27, 2005 8:23 am

since the thread for decoding the opposite sex has gone a little off subject, and I'm still getting asked questions by neighbor about men, what do you guys think of online personal ads?

why I'm considered "all knowing" about men by my neighbor melanie simply because i have a wedding ring I can't figure out. But, she had me look at some online ads and they come across like prison photos. some of the men (she wants a cowboy), so we checked Missoula and Bozeman were pretty questionable to me.

I use MySpace (www.myspace.com), it's not really a datng service as much as a way to keep in touch with friends. I never randomly looked up girls, but a girl looked me up, we talked, and decided to meet. I had never met anyone of the internet so I was skeptical, but what can I say, we've been dating almost 2 months. :P

As for the point of a lot of them being thugs, I don't know, but I'm sure as the older you get and you are using a dating service, the odds are you are single for a reason. ;)

minus alumni on B.N, I don't email strangers. I laughed because she wants my opinion on whom she should "chat" with. basically, she wants what Meat described as "friends with benefits", complains she needs to save a horse, ride a cowboy! although i agree with the her feelings, complaining to a military wife who's husbands deploys out 6-18 months at a time that you "need more sex in my life." you are not going to find much sympathy  that's why we keep "spares" around :D

BAC- has right sort of job, right age, and although he self describes himself as a bad farmboy, he still has one. BAC -you like tall, brunettes, with instant kid just looking for sex? have a nieghbor that might work for you.

she didn't like my idea of buying a dog, so i'll try and help out best i can.

Rebecca -- That's a funny question. Hmmm, a woman wanting the "friends with benefits" arrangement? And you ask a guy if he is interested? I guess that begs only one question from nearly every guy ... does she have a pulse?

On a serious note, I am nothing near a cowboy ... just a kid who grew up on a farm. Although ... I haven't had a good FWB relationship for several months, so the concept itself is always intriguing.

yes, she has a pulse! not bad looking from a female perspective, cute actually. tiny body, tall, boobs, but has a 4 year old daughter, so kinda of hard to meet a "nice country guy." thought it was a set up to burn my britches, because Brian nearly wet himself when she said her fantasy was a singing cowboy (don't go there with me!). But definitely a cowboy. she likes to drink beer, have fun, shoot her 357 magnum, drives a ford truck.
hey almost as good as me. cute brunette, I own a big ford pickup, shoot a Glock 26, like cowboys and fun, Oh yeah, come with HUSBAND.

so I had to school her in the anti-singing cowboy agenda. although wonderful, still the most frustrating relationship of any kind i've ever had in my entire life is with a singing cowboy.

anyway, if you're up this way let me know, may be you can meet her.

You've got me laughing way more than I should be at work (especially today).

But okay, if I make it up to WA in the near future, I'll put on my best Roy Rogers impersonation and try to set myself up for a service call with your neighborhood buckle bunny.

A buddy in the midwest uses them all the time. I say why not use them? Whatever works...cheaper than going to a bar or a club...and perhaps more discrete.

She might want to consider moving to Ellensburg or Pendelton if she needs a cowboy.

What a girl says about another girl: "not bad looking from a female perspective."

What a guy hears: "nice personality."

i'm not gay, so I don't judge other women.. I'm sure you don't judge other men.

Brian's married soldier friends all think she's hot, so I know they like what they see.

As for Cybil, I know she's beautiful. Men give her luxury cars like Lexus to drive just to be seen with her, she's only out for cash. Makes men fall on their faces when they walk by from tripping over their tongues. she's looking for at least 7 figures.

I think Garth Brooks is married....

Personally I woudn't give a chick like that the time of day. It sounds like she has some serious self esteem issues, and there is nothing less attractive than an insecure woman. You can have her.

she's looking like a playboy playmate, and she (cybil) admits she's a gold digger. basically, you give her the cash and life she wants, and she'll bend anyway you want. at least she's upfront about what she wants.

disagree with it, I don't want some 350 lb. man mounting me no matter how much cash he has. Besides i'm dyslexic and married below birth right status, not above it. Guess i really love nice blue collar men, Brian's lucky because i'm not here for the money.

True story: My best friend's youngest sister had similar desires, although, I wouldn't consider her "beautiful" compared to how you descirbe Cybil. She moved to Seattle, and went to work at the most notable retailer in the men's dept. One day, she helps some average looking guy pick out some suits and ties, etc. They hit it off and he asks her out. One thing leads to another, and they eventually get married (not sure if they still are). At the wedding, the father of the bride pulls the young groom aside and in a very very serious tone says, "watch out for my daughter. She can spend a lot of money." The groom responds, "she can't spend all my money."

He was one of the small group of guys who started that one software company in Redmond, and later sold all of his interest and retired. Not sure if he was ever considered a "founder", or not, but I do know that he had a boatload of money by the time he was 25. The bride and groom lived in the lap of luxury with their neighbors, Gates, Kenny G, etc.

I don't know what the moral of the story is, other than, Cybil could meet her desired hubby in the most unassuming places and at the most unassuming time. Or, the moral could be that, "it's just as easy to fall in love with a rich guy as a poor one."

Hey, if Cybil wants a 7-figure guy, she should be looking for someone different than the one who can buy her a Lexus. I mean, the most you can spend on a Lexus is around $100,000. If I were her, I would be thinking in terms of Rolls, Bently, Porshe, Lamborgini, or Ferrari. She should also take up tennis if she doesn't play already. That would get her into the right tax bracket.

This might be a good time to uncork one of my favorite recycled lines (I believe this originally came to me from a chain email, and was supposedly referenced to the bathroom wall at the Filling Station in Bozeman, MT):

"No matter how good she looks, some other guys is sick and tired of putting up with her s#!t."

Very quickly, the allure of the hotness wears off and the realization of the shallowness and selfishness grows and grows. It doesn't take that long before a beautiful woman can look ugly when a guy gets miserable enough with her.

Not that I have any personal experience in that area or anything....

totally true-

as for your friends baby sister, Brian would be depressed. when he married me he knew nothing of my dads family, because it embaressed me. He knew my mom grew up in denton and moved to choteau when older, a poor ****** kicker like him. when we were engaged i finally took him to CA to meet my dad. he freaked out, and wouldn't even sit on the sofa. He asked what kind of business is the family into, and dad said "we dabble here and there, but I'm retired Army." the next day we went down to Atherton (by Stanford) and we met with my Uncle Bob and Aunt Sylvia, they're neighbor was the Haas family (they own the A's and Levi's) he asked what they do. My uncle Bob said "we dabble a little with computers", when we left Palo Alto, my dad drove by the Sun Microsystems HQ building and pointed out the name on the side of the building. he said "see i told you we dabble a little in computers." To this day he bitches and moans that it's not right to "not take any money from them."

the way i see it is that i never earned it, so therefore have no claim to any of it. I guess you can be a spender or not no matter who you marry. he got the dud that way, i don't like the snotty life style and he wants it. Joke is if he ever used his Master's in Env. Engineering for a civilian job and made 6 figures, i'd leave him for a bum with wranglers. probably true.

Cybil does fine, but will realize when older that her looks have faded and she missed out on some great guy simply because he didn't have a fat wallet.

A friend sent me this site today, it's a pretty humorous, and most likely true, depiction of relationships.

glad that I'm not the only one out there that wouldn't sell out my A** for some cash. Really, Nice men come in all sizes, and Todd is wonderful human being, but weighed b/w 320 -350 during FB season with Cal. And in all practicality back in HS I was 105, now 109, and that would have broke more than my back.

I make my man stay under 245, Brian lost 30 pounds after our wedding.

Hope that she is anti-religion and believes that all conservatives deserves to be exiled to middle America. Otherwise they will not have much in common. :(
