I thought it was just their fans that were whiney and immature...apparently it's spread to their head coach and student reporters.

Holy middle school...
I have been following that on the dark site, it is hilarious, the whole bunch are idiots.
It sure makes for entertaining reading
Reading it is kind of like watching Dumb & Dumber

But what else would you expect from that bunch

The Missoulian is reporting on the ... reporting. UM has an Esquire/ESPN writer advising the Kaiman and he has some interesting comments.

I was just gonna say the comments are quite interesting. Seems like the folks in Missoula are fed up with him...Makes you wonder if the Missoulian will do any follow up????

Funny post about this on deadspin:
Following an order from the coach to his team to stop talking to their reporters, Montana's student newspaper struck back in a beautifully catty way: they started covering the Grizzlies' opponents.

It started when the Kaimin, UM's student paper, published an investigation on an alleged assault by two players. Coach Bobby Hauck, a gaping vagina of the highest order, made his displeasure known in his press conferences.

At a recent weekly news conference, a Kaimin reporter asked Hauck whether he was going to continue rotating quarterbacks.

"You want something from me now?" replied Hauck. "You've got to be kidding me."

A Missoulian sportswriter immediately followed up with the same question, to which Hauck provided an answer.

At the following week's news conference, the Kaimin reporter again asked a question - this one on how the Grizzly defense would defend against the speed of an opposing running back.

Hauck's reply: "I'll give you this, you're persistent. Who's next?"

More recently, a player told a reporter that he wasn't allowed to talk to the Kaimin staff, a directive that supposedly came down from Hauck.

Faced with this stonewalling, the paper did what they had to do. For the homecoming Gameday publication, which usually profiles a Grizzly player, they ran a feature on a coach for the opposing Cal Poly.

yep, it's just getting bigger and bigger. it's funny how people are actually defending haucks actions on this one. i'm far from a hauck hater. i mentioned before that i had the opportunity to meet him and golf with him at old works and he seemed like a pretty cool guy. i'm sure that opinion of him won't bode well for me but i'm just saying that he didn't give me any reason to believe that he's not a nice guy. that said, he's supposed to be the adult, and frankly he's acting like a little kid on this one. now, a situation that could have been here and gone is getting national attention...and yet some refuse to see how bobby did anything wrong. guess it's one of the negatives that comes with success. if the griz weren't constantly dominating on the field, i'd bet people would look at this siyuation with the perspective it deserves...

I won't argue with your thoughts on Bobby-my opinion is otherwise, but it is not based on ever meeting the man. But I did want to say that the SI article brought up some excellent advice-the um administration should put a stop to this rediculous behavior. However, I sincerely get the feeling that O'Day is either unwilling or afraid to take on Bobby? Is that opinion correct? O'Day seems like a pretty good guy overall from what I have seen, but his comments to date on this issue are pretty disappointing. There is no way that the um administration should not be more proactive here. maybe a little national spotlight will change this.

i agree. they are as guilty as bobby for letting this continue. and i fully understand why cat fans don't like this guy. it's not like i know him. just met him that one time and he didn't give me any reason to think he was a bad guy. but, i admit, in this rivalry, i like it when coaches don't like eachother. i like ash, and i appreciate that he seems like a classy guy, but i also appreciate bobby letting people know exactly what he thinks of the cats. it's how it should be. he should hate the cats and we should hate the griz. i wouldn't want it any other way. but he is very wrong in this situation in my opinion.

Well, giving the student paper the silent treatment should keep Hauck in Missoula for 5 plus more years. How Stupid is Hauck. He needs to learn how to play with others that do not like him. If doesn't, he will never move up to the next level.

I don't know if any of you have heard about this story or not, but it is the honest to god truth. The girl it happened to I know personally. The girl I know lives with another girl who was or still is dating the grizzly kicker. One night these two had a fight and the kicker flipped out. He barged into the house and tried to talk to the girl but the girl wasn't there. So the kicker kicked open the door of the girl that I know personally, ran in and started jumping on her bed. My friend was freaked out and didn't know what to do, then the kid went ahead and ate the candles she had in her room and then spit the candles all over her room. He did all of this because she wouldn't contact his girlfriend for him. My friend eventually convinced him to leave, but before he left he punched some holes in the wall. This happened a few weeks ago, and the kicker never was punished or repremanded.

This has to be true, nobody would make up a story about a kicker, let alone one that ate candles.

Eating candles is not advised, the wax really gets packed in your teeth and will not dissolve on their own, DO NOT under any circumstances try to melt the packed wax out of your teeth with an open flame. The tooth holds in the heat long after you pass out from the pain.

I would also imagine that has to be hell on your digestive system when you're trying to pass candle wax.

This story I reported earlier is absolutely true, the kicker is the kid from canada. I might of overstepped my boundaries posting it here, but some stupid stuff goes on in missoula. I don't want to release the name of the girl or her dad due to the respect I have for them both. The dad didn't go public with it because he contacted the kid personally and told him if it happens again the kid won't be able to walk straight again. I can guarentee you if it happens again they will go to the police as they should in my opinion.

Mods, can we please consider a move of this entire thread to smack? It denigrated to that pages ago, and the ridiculously immature and insane rumors being spouted by Hi-Line would NEVER be allowed on the regular board if they concerned a team other than the Griz.

I just don't know where to start. There are 3 or 4 topics here to split up. If nobody minds I'll move it all to smack and then is someone wants to continue the discussion about the student newspaper they can start a new thread or keep this thing going.
