OK, so I get the part about it's not the fault of Coach Ash that the Cats lost. Then who gets all the kudos for calling the plays in the second half with a total net yard gain of less than 50?

Re: Is it time for Ash to go yet?
I'm sorry, I think Ash is a good guy, and he can't control the fumbles on the field. But the play of the team reflects the coaching. The players haven't been ready for thier opponents in both our home games this year. In both Dixie's game and NAU's game we looked completely shocked out there on the field. Our defense still did look great except for our pathetic pass coverage agian, but Ash has been focusing on our offense and he has said this many times. What part of our team is by far the worst. The offense. I think Ash as a person is a good guy, but he isn't ready for our division of football. He's not a bad football coach, he just isn't cut out for Division 1

I needed a change for one, but for two, I HAD to go to Coach Haucks rival school.

You guys are more competitive and consistent than you have been in the last 15 years.
Ash did that when nobody else could.
He recruited good kids
Brought up your GPI
Stopped the crime wave
Brought your team back to respectability

Re: Is it time for Ash to go yet?
I might add a few more names to that list, on both offense and defense, such as Hansen, Person, Schreibeis, Begger, Desin, Davis, Price, Ogden. All of whom were Kramer high school recruits from Montana. Kind of throws a kink into the misconception that he was so overly reliant on transfers and out of state players doesn't it?bobcat2002 wrote:How can you say Ash inherited a mess besides for the apr issues? Most of the dominant players on defense are all kramer players, i.e. retoriano, fletcher, gazzero, bignell, etc. I havent seen any of ash's recruits do anything besides Thomas, Nicol, and Gilbert. Also could be said the key offensive players as well such as the whole offensive line.Common Cat wrote:I am going to disagree. I think Ash is doing alright...remember he inherited a mess and is building our program from the bottom up instead of top down like kramer. It is easy to play arm chair coach after a loss, but I have to believe that he is a much more knowledgable than any of us posting on this site. Here's the deal... HE will reflect and I am betting we will get better. I too am tired of let downs after winning big. I think this program needs to learn how to win. I think Ash needs to step up in his leadership, but I do feel he is doing good things here. I haven't seen the amount of talent on a bobcat field as we do now...nor the depth. We'll be fine. And personally I tired of the attitudes on this website. we are either on tops of peaks or down in the biggest trench. I think go scats had a thread about it the other week...we see it every year. We have a great team and an awesome defense. Coaches will learn as well as players. I'd rather have Ash and Co. than Kramer and his staff. Believe me, Ash feels the pressure of this loss. But keep your chin up, we'll get there. And finally, instead of complaining( because it does nobody no good) chill out and post something worth reading.GRZSLAYER wrote:Sorry guys but Ash is a great guy to clean up a program, but he is a F'in idiot when it comes to coaching, along with his offensive coordinator. He might be a good coach at division 2, but that's it. Even in the sunday paper he and the plays said he was outcoached. They didn't print that exactly word for word, but read it. The NAU coaches made changes and saw things in our team they could expose and beat. Our coaches didn't do ******!! They may be able to recriut well and choose a kid with good character, but they might be one of the worse coaching staffs in the division. Thanks for bringing some good kids to MSU, but it's time for you to hit the road ASH!! You are one of the least knowledgable coaches in the converence with one of the most talented teams and it shows!! BYE BYE!!
Aside from the recruits, ash's playcalling has to come into question. The offense has not been efficient since ash and co. arrived and it was thought that ash now calling the plays would change a few things. but nothing has. it cant all be about the players. the offense just looks way too predictable to me. sorry for the negativity, but there needs to be a change.

Re: Is it time for Ash to go yet?
That is simply not accurate. From 2002-2006, three wins over the Griz, three BSC titles, three playoff appearances, one playoff win.AlphaGriz1 wrote:You guys are more competitive and consistent than you have been in the last 15 years.Ash did that when nobody else could.

Re: Is it time for Ash to go yet?
I also believe it is a misconception to believe that Ash inherited a mess. There were api issues but talent wise he was in great shape and I don't think it's improved since. I think that Ash has been good for the program and I do like the direction he is going. I just think he is short a QB and a RB which are both very tough to find and when you recruit one from a high school it's kind of a crap shoot. DC was not a mystery coming to MSU.John K wrote:That is simply not accurate. Re: Is it time for Ash to go yet?
You are absolutely correct about that. In his first season, Ash inherited a large number of starters and key reserves from the team that went to the 2nd round of the playoffs the previous year.Weltercat wrote:I also believe it is a misconception to believe that Ash inherited a mess. Yeah I know....water under the bridge....I get that. It just bugs me when I hear people say things like "Ash inherited a mess" or "we need to give him time to rebuild the program". Hysell took over a 2-9 team, and Kramer inherited a 3-8 team. They "inherited a mess" and had to "rebuild the program". Ash was handed the reins to a team that was one of the top 8 in the country the previous season. A very different situation than that faced by Hysell and Kramer. That's all I'm saying.grizzh8r wrote:naw, it's just John K's mancrush on The Big Human.AlphaGriz1 wrote:Wow, talk about spin!

that is only one side, Ash took over a program with lots of problems. lets not rehash this AGAIN.John K wrote:Yeah I know....water under the bridge....I get that. 17 (34%) of the current 2 deep were on Kramers last team, of those 7 were redshirting that year and never played a down in a game under kramer, the rest of the current 2 deep never even spent a day in practice under Kramer.
Now given that those 17 are all JR's and Sr's I would hope that they are seeing a lot of playing time if they are still on the team. If you think about it I bet its pretty low that only 34% of the current 2 deep were even on the team 3 years ago another way to look at it is that 66% of our current 2 deep is Jr's that have never redshirted or younger. A quick look at our 2 deep would show you that we are a fairly young team.

Same reason a $hitload of msu fans hang out on eGriz:
1. They like talking football
2. It's a rivalry
3. Occasionally, you can actually learn something meaningful
4. It's fun to toss your rival some crap now and again.
