Season Ticket Sales

Post by Robcat » Wed Jun 29, 2005 3:10 pm

I heard today that there are only 300-400 season tickets available. The end zone seats are sold out. Should be a sell out for each game in 2005. If you have not purchased your tickets yet, best pick up the phone and call 1-406-994-CATS.

Great news! Could this be the breakout season Cat fans have been waiting for?

Cat Pride, without question. In 2 years we will have the end zone enclosed and new sky boxes over the student section.

I think will get the end zone enclosed, but the skyboxes might be a bit of a stretch… They have to rebuild the whole student section, and that would be a little too costly for the Athletic Department. The only way that there will be skyboxes put over the student section in the near future is if a corporate sponsor or a huge private donation gives the football program the dough. I wouldn’t mind seeing a new scoreboard put up!

I have never seen that actual pictures/blueprints for phase II of the expansion, but I guess there is a picture of it in the MSU athletics main office? If anyone has seen it in there, does it show boxes over the student section? And if so, is the student section still like it is now or has it been totally rebuilt? I think they could put boxes onto the back end of the student section w/o having to redo the whole student side? Similiar to what they did with Mile High expansions as time went on etc.? Redoing the whole side would be very nice though and make it more in par with the other side.

I do know there is quite the waiting list for sky boxes... that definitely helps push progress of redo the student side.

There is a capital improvements campaign going on right now for the entire athletics department, not just football - with renovations to the football stadium high on the list. My understanding is that funding is available to start kicking off improvements beginning the fall of 2006.

If this upcoming athletic season can match that of the '04-'05 success, and if football can have the season everyone is anticipating, I see big improvements to MSU facilities coming very quickly.

This also tells me that MSU has a sugar daddy in their back pocket just waiting to open their wallet.

My peeps told me that they are in the process of lining up an out of state sugar daddy. I guess this individual is very interested in throwing some money at the program. I think a lot is riding on this season. We win the conference title and get some home playoff games we could be seeing these improvements well ahead of schedule.

Why not build a few boxes in one of the endzones first, then put more above the student side next? Making a "zone" area is very popular these days.

That is where the skyboxes will be, in the end zone. You can see the game unfold from this point. There is talk of moving the existing scoreboard to the other end. I have inside info. Yes, the waiting list is long and they will be asking those on the sky box waiting list to make a deposit, so then they can get the ball rolling.

I've seen the different phases in both the football office and the athletic office. The next phase is knocking down the pepsi zone and putting in a really sweet end zone section. It's not a bowl, its more of a straight shot that pretty much incloses that side of the stadium that is comparable in hieght to the north end zone of washington grizzly. I don't see them not putting in a new score board, because the one we have now would need to be raised in order for it to be seen.

Then the next step after the end zone, is actually putting in more seats above the student section. Kind of a overhang look, also pretty sweet.

If my memory serves me right, I do believe the plans call for more seats over the locker rooms for the final stage. I don't remember the sky box situation, but one would think that if there is a demand they would add more.

From the drawings, when this stadium is all done I would say 30,000+ is a good approximation.

Now I'm as optimistic as they come, but 30k? It would be what, a good 20 years before those numbers are remotely possible.

Well Celtic that is why there are phases… There is nothing saying that all the phases would be done in 4-5 years. They would complete the phases as they are needed.

Yea but if you look back during the 70s and 80s, we had a few averages of 10k, 11k, and even 12k. I mean 20+ years later and we haven't outdone some of our highest totals, what makes you think we will in another 20?

Well, one thing that may change is that population projections for Bozeman over the next years go as high as 88,000 (from about 30,000 now) just in the City limits. Bozeman is growing and if that trend continues, it can only help MSU and attendance, etc.

Now we just need to get all of our fair weather fans into the bleachers after each kick off :)

I almost think we should get back to the old way they used to run the tailgating. You could tailgate up to 5 minutes before the game and during halftime, but during the game they would make go back in or leave the tailgate area. This may be unpopular with some, but you can still tailgate and also support the football team inside the stadium. I think if we went back to that old way in the student section it might be a lot better. This would make people get back into the stands. Thoughts?

I'm all for that. As a student, I'm always kind of embarassed with the amount of students that don't come back after half time. In the third quarter there's usually more students outside tailgaiting then there is inside cheering on the team.

Also on the stadium, there is going to be more press boxes. They're between the student section's two levels.

Some people don't buy tickets, they just come to tailgate and enjoy the day.
The students are students, some are there to enjoy the entire experience, not just the game. As with a lot of schools, drinking is a concern, so that needs to be considered, but if they don't return, so be it. As I said, students are students. Let them enjoy within limits, this ends all to quickly for them and afterwards they can become diehard bobcat fans that don't understand why the new students don't come back in the game.
