PapaG: If you are interested in following the legacy of Father Midnight, the original drummer (also an AGR) and at least one other guy from Montana are still in the band in its new configuration called DFive9. They are based in Portland, and have a pretty good local following. The have a couple CDs out on independent labels (or maybe no label, but the CDs are out there). They have a new one coming out soon as well.

They are actually pretty good and a lot of fun to see live. You should check them out if you aren't already familiar with them.

I have one of Clouse's CDs as well, and really like it. Although I have to admit that it's kind of funny to see intentional double negatives and some other colloquial stuff in some of his lyrics (you gotta market in a certain way to the country music fans, I guess) as he is a very articulate guy in reality. He has a great voice as well.

I'll check out DFive9. Thanks for the tip. On a related note, another MSU musical act has built a following as well. Jeni actually sang at our wedding back in '97 and Jake accompanied on the sax. I think it may have been their first 'professional' performance. They now are a "folk/jazz" group and the trio are all MSU grads.

Shane is amazing and a wonderful man and a great singer no matter what he so chooses to preform. He is doing well and is happy with country music and will no doubt get a Nashville contract in the future.

Thanks for the tip on Jeni Fleming -- I'll do some browsing of her site today. I'm a built-in fan for anyone from MSU with musical (or other) talent. I'm a bit of a homer that way.

Interesting you should ask about the PSU game. I was just thinking about that this weekend when I was pulling together a mental list of my trips I need to make this year. I'm planning to be up there this year. I always look forward to a good excuse to hit Portland, and an MSU game is as good as it gets. I hope there's a good MSU crowd there again this year. We'll have to rally even more people via this site and email as the game draws near.

The wife and I may make the trip out to Portland for the PSU game this year as well. We'll see if the Vegas trip next month drains all available funds for another trip though.

Would be fun to meet up with some of the Cat fans from that area, plus we have some other friends in the Portland area so I hope we are able to make it out there.

Or to put on a positive spin ... when you bust the casinos in Vegas next month and walk away with pockets bulging with cash, you will be hosting a party for all MSU fans at a suite at the Westin after the game!

The power of positive thinking (it can't hurt, anyway).
