Just got back from lunch at Specs. I went to get a Dead Griz sandwich to really make this week complete. They've taken down all the Bobcat stuff in there, painted the walls gray, and hung up Abercrombie looking black and white pictures!
They said they'll be putting up some of the Bobcat stuff, but I felt like I was getting more lip service than truth.
WTF is happening when there isn't a REAL BOBCAT sports bar in this town? Anyone with some money want to help open a real Bobcat sports bar?

i agree. and if you HAVE to do that, couldn't you at least wait until after the biggest cat game of the year? why specs would ever decide to go that route is beyond me.

do you have to know everything to post here? or just think you do?

we were in there about 2 months ago and I asked the waitress is that maroon print on the menus?
She rolled her eyes and said yeah and the manager wanted to paint the walls the same color, we pointed it out to him so they will be grey instead.
Sorry Randy....I guess that means there won't be any sod down this year for CAT/griz?

EXACTLY! It's the Thursday before Cat/Griz, I am in a bar 12 steps away from campus and I feel like I am looking at Abercrombie ads instead of Bobcat Memorabilia? They said the took the stuff down 3 months ago for painting. You didn't look at the Calendar and think, let's have one more Cat/Griz Sod on the Floor Blowout before we yuppie up our bar? At first I was calm, but as lunch progressed I just got more and more upset. It's ridiculous to have a bar basically on campus and not have it be the ultimate Bobcat bar.
I'll check out the Hide-Away, but it's just not the same as grabbing some dinner and then walking over to the Fieldhouse for basketball.
I'm serious about making a REAL Bobcat Bar near campus if anyone is retired and bored with lots of money!

I love it! While the Grantree still doesn't have enough Bobcat Stuff in the bar, it's a great place and is one of my favorites.

It makes me wonder about Bozeman. If I asked 10 random people who the cats played this weekend what would be the results?

They repainted it because TONS of people complained that it was to dark in there (some of the complainers were bobcat boosters). They were trying to get everything back up in time for Cat/griz but ran into some issues that they could not have seen coming. If any of you know the Owner and the Manager, you would know that they are as big of bobcat fans as anyone. They even went to Blue, Gold and White plates ( cost way more than the old ones) just so they had more bobcat colors in there.
When it comes to the sod, if you want to help put it in and take it out then he would have done it for homecoming. Instead the owner is the one stuck mucking out a bar filled with mud and junk until 4:00 the next morning. Everyone talks about how cool it is, but when it comes time to help no-one is around.

Wow! That must be tough to own a business and actually have to do work in your money making enterprise. I got some attitude while in there today including a comment from the waitress that "It's only been up 10 minutes and we're already getting complaints" and an attitude from the manager that "you aren't a regular enough customer so I don't really care what you think about the lack of cat decorations"
I agree that they have shown to be pretty big Bobcat fans, but I feel they have really shifted and ruined a good thing.

4 outta 5 random griz fans would say "my beloved grizzlies (but don't ask me to name any of the players cuz I can't)" - I know.... smack -------->
Retiring my moniker. It's time to ride off into the sunset. It's been a fun ride. Go Cats.

Yeah I can't believe what I'm reading either. I'm extremely disappointed in them. If it's too dark, put up some more lighting?

And if I had the money, I would definitely be putting up a real, exclusive Bobcat bar. I miss the R Bar. And now the old Specs.

They are just trying to spruce up the bar a bit. They are collecting signed jerseys and helmets for the walls. There is a lot more to that bar than just the blue paint and the collection of pictures. Joe and Carrie do a ton for the Bobcats (cat chat at the Pour House) and for the community. I will be there at 9:00 am Saturday and will go back after the Cats win.

You could always check out The Game in Gateway. Sure it's 12 miles from Bozeman, but the owner carries 2 degrees from MSU, the colors are blue & gold, they don't show Griz games unless it's Cat-griz (or playoffs, same with Carroll), the food is amazing, the drinks are inexpensive, and there's a lot of Bobcat, local high school, personal, and other memorabilia. And yes, the owner's son, me...does the PA announcing for MSU football...FIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRSSSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTT DOOOOOOWWWWWWNNNNN, Women's bball and volleyball. Not an advertisement, just letting you all know. Plus, it's a great place to bring the kids. Not many places in Bozeman allow that....

I just was at Specs tonight. WTF?!!!!!
What happened to this bar? The grey? Come on. I would go to the Scoop but it's still at sh@t hole.
Why would they change the best neighborhood, sports bar in town?
WTF, again.
This sucks.
