If I was running a bar, I certainly wouldn't have taken out the ad they did (just not my personal taste) ... but for those hurling insults and threatening some sort of childish retribution, get a grip. If you don't like what they do, don't do business there. It's really that simple.

I actually respect Specs a lot more for doing what they did than the average Joe spouting off about any Cat/Griz smack issue. Specs is putting their lifeblood (their business) behind what they are saying. So even if you disagree with what they say, you have to give them credit for doing so in a way that gives them full accountability for their actions (and gives you, the consumer, the ability to judge them by way of your spending or lack thereof at their business).

This is certainly a huge step up from the bands of anonymous internet jockeys who say things a whole lot worse while taking zero responsbility for it.

So how are they doing?
Apparently your ADD medicine isn't working, your post has nothing to do with the thread topic. As for your first pathetic post, it sucks!!

BTW, smack is ---------------------------------------->

Ignorant #^%&*$%# griz @$*&($% assholes..............
Really? Because it kind of seems to me that the last several posts have been about a Bobcat bar taking the time and money to run a Villanova ad and how awesome you all think that is because now you have somebody to cheer for in the postseason. So do you guys decide who you're going to cheer for in the playoffs at the beginning of the season or do you wait until you officially don't make the playoffs and then just decide to cheer for whoever the Griz play?
I can only speak for myself, but I personally always root for whoever is playing against the griz and it doesn't just apply to playoff games.

Whoa there pardner. That is way too thoughtful and mature. If there's a separate board for smack then shouldn't there at least be a separate board for adults?

Yeah, there's a good angle. Take the board mod on in your 3rd post and call him out for posting on his own message board.

Griz fans are not laughing.
Spectator's Bar & Grill, a popular sports bar near Montana State University's Bobcat Field in Bozeman, ran an advertisement the past two days in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle that featured a Griz paw in a circle - with a line through it - and read "Go Villanova."
Seems tavern owner Joe Domanski thought it'd be funny to publicly root against the Grizzlies as they face off against Villanova at 6 p.m. MST Friday in the NCAA FCS national championship game in Chattanooga, Tenn.
After all, that's what devoted Bobcat fans do, right?
Well, not anymore. Hindsight has become crystal clear.
"It was classless and in poor taste," Domanski said Friday morning, feeling very regretful.
The owner was manning the telephone at Spectators after several of his employees were berated by Griz fans calling, outraged by the advertisement. In the past two days, dozens of people have called the bar to complain about the ad, which is circulating via e-mail all over the state.
The calls of protest have come from all over, not just Missoula. Fans from Butte, Anaconda and Billings are equally perturbed. Domanski described a quarter of the calls as "ugly." The rest have been pretty cordial.
The advertisement was meant as an extension of the friendly cross-state rivalry between MSU and the University of Montana, he said. After all, the 119th annual Brawl of the Wild was less than a month ago. Maybe the Grizzlies' 33-19 win over MSU is still a sore subject. Whatever the reason, Domanski learned the hard way that he's not as funny as he thought.
"It came off the wrong way," he said. "I'm not the sharpest pencil in the box."
Several hours from now, the championship game will be aired on ESPN2, and the TVs at Spectator's Sports Bar will be tuned in, he said. Domanski is regretful about the advertisement and plans to root for the Griz.
"I hope the Griz do well tonight," he said.

And by giving the Missoulian the "story" they wanted he just got them to post/print his ad completely free of charge rather than having to pay for it like he did with the Chronicle. Excellent move.

I agree. What a great ad and I don't see what grounds people have to complain. Are they upset that a bobcat supporter isn't rooting for the griz? I've got a news flash for them. There are alot of bobcat fans who aren't rooting for the griz.

Personally, I refuse to cheer for them because I can't stand their radio announcers but that's another topic altogether.

I am calling on all local BOBCAT fans to give Specs your business this weekend if you are out for food or a beer! And while you are there, please let Joe or Pat know that you appreciate what they did. They did nothing wrong with that ad and need to know that the local community is behind them.

GO CATS!!!

I think anyone who called and offered calm explanations as to why they didn't like the ad (and probably explaining why they would stop doing business at Specs) are perfectly fine. That's capitalism at its finest. I think the ones that were "ugly" as noted in the article are the ones with serious issues.

I don't even think the calm ones have much of a reason to complain. It's a bobcat bar....so as far as I can tell people shouldn't be shocked and amazed that the owner doesn't support the griz.

Luckily for the owner I doubt that the people who have complaints do much business at Specs anyway. He probalby gained more business than he lost. If it wasn't 200 miles out of my way I would go there right now.

Has anyone else noticed the irony that the bar that ran the ad is called "Spectators"?

If the tables were turned and the Cats were playing Villanova tonight and the owner of Red's Bar in Missoula ran a similar ad in the Missoulian I'd laugh it off..............no big deal. I sure as hell wouldn't waste my nickel on a phone call to Reds.

Yeah, same here. Funny stuff......and all part of what makes a rivalry a rivalry.

I would still go there the next time I was in Missoula as well.
