All-Time Worst NFL QBs?
5 Top QBs isn’t any fun. How about All-Time Worst NFL QBs?
10. Mike Tomczak-for those who’ve only heard him as a D-List announcer on ESPN, I know it will be hard to believe, but he was even worse as a player
9. Danny Wuerffel-much like the Chicago Bears quarterbacks are cursed, so are University of Florida quarterbacks in the NFL. Tim Tebow, meet the ghost of your NFL past. Later, Tim, we’ll introduce you to your ghost of NFL present, Rex Grossman.
8. Heath Shuler-if only he’d played in the 1940s he would have been amazing in the Wing T. Unfortunately, he was only about 50 years too late.
7. David Humm-so bad that the Raiders once actually put punter Ray Guy in at QB for a series when backup David Humm wasn’t even injured in a game against the Bears. The ultimate vote of confidence!
6. Dan McGwire-he was tall. And that’s all I have to say about that.
5. Gino Torretta-If JENO’S Pizza is synonymous with cheap flavorless pizza, then Gino Torretta is synonymous with overrated QBs coming out of college programs where they look much better than they actually are because they are surrounded by better players than most of the teams that they play
4. Rob Johnson—if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck and talks like a duck, how can it not be a duck? Such is the case with Rob Johnson and the position of quarterback. Anyone remember when Wade Phillips benched Doug Flutie who’d won 5-games filling in for an injured Johnson to end the season and got the Bills into the playoffs only to start Rob Johnson in the playoff game? One thing you can always say about ol’ Wade, he sure ain’t his Daddy.
3. Akili Smith-little known NFL fact: when a QB manages to not only fumble the ball, but to also throw an interception on the very same play, it’s called an “akili”. If you think this just a coincidence, then consider that if the interception is returned for a TD, it’s called an “akilismith”.
2. JaMarcus Russell-the biggest baby ever born in the state of Louisiana; based on what we’ve seen thus far in the NFL, this is still his biggest claim to fame
1. Norris Weese-despite consistent rumors otherwise, there never has been a player in the NFL named Norris Weese
And the Special Todd Marinovich Lifetime Achievement Award winner is: Ryan Leaf! What more can you say about the guy that hasn’t already been said? Not much, but my own personal observation is this: to this day he’s the only high school “star” I’ve seen that the players on his own team wouldn’t even bother talking to him, let alone standing anywhere near him on the sidelines during games.

No list of worthless QBs is worth a damn without the names Kordell Stewart, Michael Vick, Andre Ware, Kelly Stauffer, Rusty Hilger and Joey Harrington.

Re: All-Time Worst NFL QBs?
listing the worst at any position is just stupid. especially qb. you know how good you have to be to even sniff playing time in the nfl? so we have guys like lulay and dickinson who are gods around these parts, but we're gonna bash the ones that actually not only make it to the nfl, but make an actice roster, get minutes, and some even start nfl games? seems backwards. if any of the qb's listed on this thread played for the cats or griz at one time it'd be pages deep defending why they had limited success in the league. the fact of the matter is the all-time worst nfl qb's are likely the ones that we've never heard of because they couldn't make the final roster. and even they are probably pretty good.

Lighten up, Francis. Using your logic (and I hesitate to use that term because one, you don't seem very logical, and two, this isn't really a logical post, it's supposed to be fun), then we should never call anything the worst...whitetrashgriz wrote:listing the worst at any position is just stupid. especially qb. you know how good you have to be to even sniff playing time in the nfl? so we have guys like lulay and dickinson who are gods around these parts, but we're gonna bash the ones that actually not only make it to the nfl, but make an actice roster, get minutes, and some even start nfl games? seems backwards. if any of the qb's listed on this thread played for the cats or griz at one time it'd be pages deep defending why they had limited success in the league. the fact of the matter is the all-time worst nfl qb's are likely the ones that we've never heard of because they couldn't make the final roster. and even they are probably pretty good.
Movies--it did get made, so it's better than any ones that didn't get made. Okay, Can't Stop The Music with the Village People can not be called the worst
Politicians--We have no right to call either Obama or Bush bad because they did get elected President...that will go over real well with folks
Cities--You know if Passiac, NJ is so bad, why would anyone live there? Ergo, it must be good.
Music--Maybe you're right, Sanjia was on American Idol and since most other singers weren't, that qualifies him for some type of award.
The list could go on and on, but I hope you get the point. If you don't, so be it, Francis.

Re: All-Time Worst NFL QBs?
wow. i'm not logical huh? i beg to differ. i wasn't speaking of just this thread, but of all the stuff that you mentioned. and yes i agree. i would agree that movies that get made are better than those that don't. i think actors in movies are better than those in highschool drama. artists who get paid for their music are better than those that sing in the shower. and presidents that get elected are far better than the millions of people convinced they could do a better job. it's everything that is wrong. as far as needing to lighten up, i don't agree. i already said that billings griz already listed the five that i'd have on my list. i just pointed out that these lists are stupid. every single player named on this thread is better than every cat and griz that we have ever seen. yet for some reason i don't forsee a thread talking about what a failure lulay is. we hate people succeeding at anything, and when they even sniff success, there will be those pointing out how bad they are. human nature i guess.Billings Cat wrote:Lighten up, Francis. Re: All-Time Worst NFL QBs?
Every guy I was going to name would have torn the Big Sky to shreds so I guess I can't name them since they obviously don't suck.
That being said, Rick Meier was pretty terrible in the NFL.
I don't see what is wrong with having a fun thread deciding who sucked at their perspective careers. Sure, these guys were all great football players, but a great football player does not make a great NFL player.
Though I will agree that a lot of Americans love to see someone fail. We love an underdog, and we love seeing someone/a team fail that is popular and has been good/great for quite a while.

Gary Hogeboom
Steve Pueller
Quincy Carter
Chad Hutchinson
That other baseball player the Cowboys signed but can't remember his name. Played for the Yankee's.
Ryan Leaf
Bascially all the QB's that started for the Cowboys between Danny White and Troy Aikman and between Aikman and Bledsoe/Romo.

And you're thinking of Drew Henson as the other QB that played for the Yankees.
