Catatac: If one wants quantity, sure I'll take the Madison, Yellowstone, Gallatin, Big Hole, (Willow Creek :-$ ), Hebgen, Quake, Clark Canyon, Ruby, Upper Missouri, Sixteen Mile, etc. But!!!!! Other than Duck Lake and Gayle will only let nonresidents keep one fish a day over 22 inches, I can't think of very many places where the Fish and Game slots fish up to 28 inches and one over 36  Dang, I got off topic again, but the 33 pound rainbow from the Kootenai and a 42 pound Laker from the Big Pond are hard to compare...come on up for the dive and I'll take you out and show you how the Big River floats and fishes.

Oh Man, did you have to mention the W.C. That's a little stream I like to call heaven

Grad - I may just take you up on that as I haven't fished it in a couple years. I grew up in the Flathead however, and used to fish it quite a bit. I assume you're talking Bull Trout with those sizes...

Great time to be a BOBCAT!

A little off the thread, but W.C. is a great fishing stream along with Sixteen Mile, but take your snake repellant.

The reason is that it's not the right time of the year for peaking. Most distance runners are doing pre-season training, and avoiding the speed work. Although the race is exciting to watch, and really fun for the runners, I don't think that it would have broad appeal, and I think that viewers would be disappointed with the times.

I saw Virginia last night. They had FOOS-ball as their "sport".

There is no slight going on here. Montanans should feel honored if sky-diving is highlighted with, of course, a mention of our fire fighters who also announce their entry to the battle this way.

Saying that Montana should be a football state is laughable. Fishing, MAYBE, but I'm happy with the skydiving. Any exposure of my state while now living in Oregon is much appreciated.

Catatac: No, the rainbow came from the Kootenai and the Laker came from the Big Pond. If you haven't floated from Hungry Horse to the airport lately, you're missing some real nice fish. The Fish and Game is doing a pretty good job managing the rivers here. Lots of cutbows still, so you get a pretty decent show--probably like you remember Ashley or the Little Bitterroot. If you backdrift the deep holes like you would the Clearwater for steelhead, you can get some pretty decent Lakers the year round out of the main river year round now. Anyway, since I grew up in the Gallatin, I'm partial to new streams and these up here have the pressure the aforementioned streams had 20-25 years ago--still.
