This story is chalk full of interesting tidbits.

You guys should like that she got a bouquet from the Athletics Dept. and that she has a football decorating her office. Both her and her dog like snow. Maybe she'll get behind your sports programs more than the previous presidents.

Mike Malone was a great fan of Bobcat sports and strongly supported the program.grizgirl wrote:This story is chalk full of interesting tidbits.

Re: Cruzado story
Malone wasn't a great fan of tobacco companies handing out free samples of their addictive and deadly products on campus. That much is without question.

Re: Cruzado story
You should add "legal" to your list of adjectives. I don't like tobacco, and have never in my life smoked or chewed, but I believe in our right to choose whether we want to partake in something we know is addictive and deadly, so long as it doesn't harm anyone else. By that measure, we probably shouldn't sell soda products and fattening foods at the games either, as those also have numerous health effects.Bay Area Cat wrote:Malone wasn't a great fan of tobacco companies handing out free samples of their addictive and deadly products on campus. (Not trying to get into an argument here, just sayin')

Re: Cruzado story
There is a (huge) difference between allowing someone the right to choose to partake in something (and MSU never, ever banned using those products on campus) and using your facilities to used to PROMOTE the use of that product.BozoneCat wrote:You should add "legal" to your list of adjectives. Malone never did anything to hinder the rights of anyone to choose to partake in something addictive and deadly. He merely didn't think it was appropriate for MSU to profit from PROMOTING the use of products that are addictive and deadly.
I agree with that position ... and I am totally in favor of people having the right to choose to put virtually anything they want into their own bodies.

I had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Cruzado for a few days earlier this week. She is a very impressive lady. She was, in my opinion, a great choice for MSU President.

Well, it was a few meeings over the course of 2 days.
Otherwise, yeah we probably would have. Although she's very engaging.

Re: Cruzado story
That wording just struck me funny. I see you left out the "meetings over the course of 2" part and just shortened it up to "few days." I may borrow that technique someday if you don't mind.GrizinWashington wrote:Well, it was a few meeings over the course of 2 days.
