Grammy's

Post by WolfPtCat » Mon Feb 01, 2010 1:20 pm

First off, Taylor Swift CAN NOT SING. This is about the 3rd or 4th time I've heard her "live" (TV) on awards shows. She has a very weak voice. She doesn't have enough lung capacaity to produce a strong note, and she is consistently flat. I closed my eyes and just listened to her...it sounded like bad karaokee...no exageration. I guess being a pretty girl and writing "Dear diary" songs appeals both to the young male and schoolage female audiences. She probably did deserve to win Best Album, because the album is good, at least the few songs I hear on the radio. Just shows what magic they can do in a recording studio.

Jamie Foxx can sing, but didn't do it last night. That "Blame it on the alcohol" song is completely manufactured. I've heard him sing some real Ray Charles songs before and he has knocked them dead. All he did last night was shout a few phrases "C'mon, C'mon" "Get up" while lip syncing to the piped studio version of the song.

Mary J Blige and the Opera singer, (didn't catch his name) were outstanding. Best vocal performance of the night.

Zach Brown band started strong, then lagged when the brought in the older gentleman. They also didn't have a lot of crowd support thru their song "Chicken Fried". Zach saved it at the end by busting into an amazing guitar picking solo. You can't expect to get a lot of support from a Staples Center audience in LA full of rock and hip hop fans. But, he won everyone ever in the end.

I was not real familiar with Jeff Beck, recognized the name...that's about it.... but holy cow....he can play some guitar.

Lil Wayne looked ridiculous with his jeans cinched below his butt. That look used to make a little bit of sense because those guys wore jeans that were 10-12 sizes too big. But he was wearing tight 501 style jeans. It looked so completely retarded. It was like he was putting on his pants, got 2/3 of the way up, and said "F*ck it. I'm done. This is as far as I'm going" .

Anyone else watch it? I was bored.

Never did understand what it is about Taylor Swift. She does write her own songs, but she sure can't sing them. I was hoping for the Dave Mathews band to take album of the year.

No, I guess I haven't. Is that the name of the band Jeff Beck is in?

Wasn't there another guitarist out of England a few years ago that had his own band called Beck? I'm fairly confused.

I'm surprised a group of guys didn't make a comment on Pink's performance! I didn't watch, I don't care for awards shows, but I did have to check out the video of Pink.

I saw Pink. It looked pretty spectacular. I had the sound off, cause I was talking on the phone. Someone told me they had seen her do something similar before, so it might be part of her tour/stage show. I heard she sounded great.

She looked great, very fit. She kind of let herself go there for a while, but looked great last week.
