Brad- ah ha so you have watched/listened to Bill, just checkingI probably wouldn't shoot you for liking Bill -- that's not my style ... it's more like Bill acts like we should shoot anyone who doesn't agree with him. That's just his schtick (sp?).

didn't think you'd hold it against me

i'm keeping away from ACLU and Nambla, but this thread is getting plenty of responses. I finally checked out egriz, they aren't as bright as us bobcats

-as for Meat - I like our sheep/livestock debates. it's good fluff. anyone who pays me enough will know who you really are. J/K I keep names confidential, but think you are all old enough to use your real names if you're posting personal opinions. Look at Gary, he does.

How about me Rebecca? If you can't figure out my name, then you should be posting on egriz not bobcatnation- easy Grizlaw.
-I have been trying to figure out FB's from MN, but you are younger than Brian and I and don't think you were on the team until after we left MSU. It has been bugging me. trying to figure out if the athletes that use BN are anyone we knew in school. I'm still working on it!

-rebecca
-side note- I will use egriz once i've actually enrolled at UMT for my social worker degree, probably in May 2006. they have a good program and i want my Master's. My kids HOWEVER, will be bobcats!

How about you point me to some actual reporting of the ACLU taking on a case involving a conservative as the plantiff, rather than an ACLU Briefing (as linked in your post)?Bay Area Cat wrote:Find me a legitimate case where Christians civil liberties are being violated, and then we'll discuss the question.

Google finds 233,000 pages of internet that match my search terms, but all of them that I cared to look at had nothing to do with conservatives being defended--only attacked.

I'm not going to waste part of my day looking up case citations to support the positions that the ACLU clearly makes regarding their nonpartisan views on the application of the First Amendment. Their postion paper seems to be very strong evidence of their ideals, even if it conflicts with some people's selective knowledge about their role in the legal system.'93HonoluluCat wrote:How about you point me to some actual reporting of the ACLU taking on a case involving a conservative as the plantiff, rather than an ACLU Briefing (as linked in your post)?Bay Area Cat wrote:Find me a legitimate case where Christians civil liberties are being violated, and then we'll discuss the question.

I'm not the one making claims of bias, so I don't really feel the responsibility for spending time researching to refute every unsubstantiated claim of bias against them.
Although a single example of a conservative being "attacked" by the ACLU or of Christians being persecuted in this country would be a good way to back up your accusations of bias against the organization.

Good call, Ponycat. I was not aware of that. Here's a link:
http://www.palmbeachpost.com/localnews/ ... baugh.html
The article also cites ACLU support for both Ollie North and Jerry Falwell.
So much for the theory of never helping conservatives....

NOPE!!!! just there, because we have family in town to help me with kids, and they (UM) have a very good social work program. too many bobcats in my bloodline to REALLY go griz. Bobcat born, Bobcat bred, bobcat 'til i'm dead!!!!!!!!! kids were born Bobcats, and that's how they'll stay, promises.
Once you're at UM, you will be seduced by the dark side, just as we all have been. There is no escape.

besides, poor Ben has had Brian's game jersey hanging over him since he was in the crib, and wants to play for the Cats. unless grandpa changes him and turns him to a cornhusker, he'll stay that way

His beloved cornhuskers, are very legit. since he's not here i'll say it for him "GO BIG RED!!!!!!!!!!"CORNHUSKERS?!?

First, sorry for the tone of the post to which this was your response. I did not intend for it to come across as inflammatory as it does. Maybe some emoticons would have helped?BAC wrote:I'm not going to waste part of my day looking up case citations to support the positions that the ACLU clearly makes regarding their nonpartisan views on the application of the First Amendment. I did not find, as I mentioned in that previous posting, a single item involving conservative(s) as the defendant--instead, I found several. I also mentioned that I didn't find any instances to back up the ACLUs brief on Google (since I don't have access to Lexis Nexis--perhaps Grizlaw could help out?) as linked by your post.
PonyCat--thanks for the link to the Limbaugh-ACLU connection.
BAC: again, I apologize if you took offense to your post--it was not intended.

Q- wasn't Jason Westbrock from MN? that's the only one i can think of for now. met him twice and he was grumpy. have a point to avoid all large grumpy men. also those that walk up and grab breasts, oh yeah, that was JC Murray, my bad, and he's from Jordan

Q- nope, didn't know him. I was no longer in the training room at that point of time. knew old guys from MT and WA, a few from CO, FB's from '93-'97, after that we moved to MD, so didn't keep up with the incoming players. but can dish on guys from those years pretty well, many were good guys to know and fun, but there were exceptions like Jack that i'd rather forget.
was your wife at MSU? although majority of the people I knew were guys and athletes there at MSU, I did know a hand full of women, may be I knew her from a class or another friend.
-rebecca
I was also involved in the horsemen's club and AED, not just athletics.

Sorry guys; I would help if I could. Unfortunately, while my firm does have access to Lexis, it is very expensive to use it (it comes out to about $15 per minute while you're logged in, depending on which database you're searching within Lexis), so I can't access my account without giving a client billing number when I log in.'93HonoluluCat wrote:I also mentioned that I didn't find any instances to back up the ACLUs brief on Google (since I don't have access to Lexis Nexis--perhaps Grizlaw could help out?)

my sis just sent me an article that if a stay at home mom were to be paid a salary i'd be worth 161K WOW! no if only Congress would recognize this and give me Soc Sec benefits for this. currently I only have 16 of the 40 required credits to draw SS. at 161K i'm sure I'd be at 40 credits in a few years.
-totally off topic - sorry

Yeah, no kidding; their service is expensive. (Their pricing structure is actually pretty complicated; $15/minute is a very rough estimate, it could be more or less depending on which database you're searching, and they also have an option that allows you to pay based on the number of searches you do in a session, rather than the amount of time you spend online).'93HonoluluCat wrote:On a serious note, $15/minute!?!? The only thing I can say in their defense (and in defense of Westlaw, their competitor, whose product is similarly priced) is that the amount of information they have available is truly amazing, and if you know what you're doing when you use their database, ten minutes on Westlaw or Lexis can save you hours in the law library. Thus, as long as you know how to use the tools effeciently, it is well worth it, even at the prices they charge.
