Not football, but food

Post by RationalGriz » Mon Apr 05, 2010 10:22 am

I will be in the area, mainly Belgrade, for a wedding in a month and was hoping some kind people would suggest the "Do Not Miss" eateries and other fine establishments in the area. We would like to have a few options in the Belgrade area and some a little further also. Any help is appreciated.

Moved this to the hangout thread as the is the best place and the normal place for Bozeman restaurant discussions.

My favorites are:
Livingston Rib and Chop House - best steak in the area
Willow Creek Cafe - excellent New York, amazing Ribs, and a great atmosphere

For Belgrade specifically:
The Mint - a little pricey, but really good food
Rio Sabinas - owned by the same folks that own the Rib and Chop in Livingston. Good food and great Margaritas.

+1 on The Mint in Belgrade. Don't know about Livingston's Rib & Chop Shop, but I ate at one in Billings for the first time this weekend and it was great! Another great one is the Land of Magic in Logan. Another good one in Belgrade is Damasco's Pizzeria & Speghetteria.

Is there still a Mexican restaurant in Belgrade called Marguerita's (or something like that)? I only ate there once about 10 years ago, but I remember the food being decent, but mostly remember it for the "2-for-1" drink specials when a train passed by (which happened twice in the hour we were there).

Retiring my moniker. It's time to ride off into the sunset. It's been a fun ride. Go Cats.

My wife and I ate there sometime last fall and I would just call it decent. It was ok, but I wasn't raving about it like many people have. To me it was just ok.

Aleworks, IMO, is handsdown the best eating establishment in Bozeman. Best selection of microbrews in town, food is exceptional, and the atmosphere is good as well. It's on the east side of town so it's a bit of a drive from belgrade, but I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Another vote for aleworks.
Naked Noodle & LaParilla always satisfy.

In Belgrade... is Chalet Market still out there by the freeway? Solid sandwiches (and good imported beer selection too IIRC).

Oh... and Land of Magic if you don't feel like waiting for a table at the Oasis ;)
EDIT: good call on Land of Magic OSK, you beat me to it.

Oasis in Manhattan is a must, as is Willow Creek Cafe. Best. Ribs. Ever.

Cafe Zydeco in Bozo has never disappointed. Ale Works is great. Santa Fe Reds is also yummy. if you're looking for a "joint", the Korner Klub in Four Corners is a sweet place to drink and fill up on tasty bar food. highly recommend the buff bites and "da fries". dang, i'm getting hungry.

also, the Point After has great nachos and wings...oh, wait it's not 1999. nevermind.

well.......we gonna pitch it!

I agree on all accounts. Willow Creek sounds awesome right now. Make sure you get an extra side of the bbq sauce if you get the ribs there. Fantastic. Zydeco is fantastic. Love the Philly Cheesesteaks and jambalaya!

The Pourhouse isn't so bad. I actually had lunch there yesterday although it would be down pretty far on my list of places to eat if I was just passing through town.

As it is, you were 17 in 1999...just saying. 8)

At least stop in here and get their finger steaks for the road home. I always stop in and get some to go. They are great cold or heat up nicely in the oven. They are a signature item at the Oasis, and the best quality for a reasonable price. You won't regret it.

This is the only one that is excellent.

The Mint is above average FOR the Bozeman area but that isnt saying much.

The rest are ok.

BS Easily missable and forgettable. If you want a real steak house go to The Land Of Magic in Logan. Oasis is crap.

If you like your steak gristly and overcooked, then I would recommend Land of Magic. If you like a juicy, beautifully marbled, rare/medium rare prime rib, then I would recommend Oasis.

I've been to land of magic twice and was extremely dissapointed both times. I've been to the Oasis 10+ times...

Also I'd like to agree with the comment about Willow Creek having the best ribs ever...deeeeeeelish

Agreed, maybe the best steak I have ever had in Montana, definitely the most consistent steak joint in the state.
