We certainly aren't the classiest bunch of fans in Bozeman, I know, but to say the Griz fans are always in the highest standard is just as absurd. In fact you saying that all things griz are in the highest standard just reinforces the view that we have of you being arrogant and condescending. Griz fans who try to argue otherwise always defeat themselves with contradictory phrases. I love it.
Almost every game the Griz play at home- The visiting fans, players and coaches comment on the Noise, stadium AND CLASSY KNOWLEDGABLE FANS

Ever heard that in Kitty Land????
No, I guess that only exists in the confines of Dennis Washington Stadium.

The noise is evident, the stadium is very impressive, but there's certainly a lot of subjective opinion regarding what constitutes classy and knowledgable.

Of course, like I said, none of that exists outside of Missoula right? Riiiiiight......

Actually yea I have heard from quite a bit of opposing fans that they had a great time in Bozeman and met some great fans. The only ones that complain are Griz fans.

Face it, MSU can be courteous, the griz may be more than we are (I'll admit we need work), but both fanbases are a Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hide in the fact that we are Dr. Jekyl for most of the year, then we turn into Mr. Hide for one game.

One big thing you should note as well, is the fact that it is much easier to be classy in victory than it is in defeat. We all know the Griz rarely lose at home, so how hard is it to be classy when you win 98% of the games you play at home? The problem is you treat every opponent as a little kid, pat him on the back and say nice try. Arrogance comes from rarely losing, and you can't really be blamed for that. And bitterness stems from losing a lot, and we have been changing that pattern over the course of the last few years as we are starting to feel good about our program again.

I'm sick of this argument about how griz fans are the cream of the crop when it comes to fans.

The premise that ALL fans have no class, or that class is not expected of fans is something I've only heard from the State fans on this thread. They said this in order to justify using the foul, obscene language in order to prove Coach Hauck supposedly doesn't have "class." Of course, all they proved is that they could be more classless than anyone. So, they came back with this argument that only coaches have to have class, not fans. Fine, but if that's what State fans believe, but please apply it only to State and its fans. That's NOT the way Montana fans act.

Don't just take my word for it. The sports writer for the Huntsville, Texas, Item, from a state not often given to singing the praises of anyone or anything not attached to the Lone Start State, wrote that Grizzly football fans are unlike any others in college sports. “Incredible. Truly incredible. Those are the only words that come to mind when thinking about the crowd at Washington-Grizzly Stadium on Saturday. Everyone has always said Montana has the best crowd in Division I-AA. Well, I'm willing to go one better: Montana has the best crowd in all of college football. ... Another nice thing about the fans is they are all positive. They wished the SHSU players good luck before the game and afterwards were there to tell them good game. Even during the contest, there was never a negative word spoken to the SHSU players. It was a very refreshing atmosphere after years of making road trips in the Southland Conference. Some of our neighbors to the east could certainly take note of how to behave at a football game." To read the entire article, follow this link. http://bobcatfans.com/forums/viewtopic. ... c64dc36492

So feel free to proclaim that you have no class, and that you should be held to a lower standard. Just don't pretend "ANY FAN doesn't have to act with class, for any team, on any level, for any sports, anywhere in the world." That's a far more serious insult to State and its supporters than anything you've attributed to anyone from Missoula.

We are NOT proclaiming we have no class! Quote someone who said that, or stop spitting out slander.

We're the griz fans 3 years ago classy when they caused 200 dollars worth of damage to my sax? We the fans classy who tried to stop the marching band so a few griz fans could pass first? Were the fans classy who stole about 5 hats, a few capes from the marching band? Were the fans classy who spit on us, the band?

Yea, nothing but pure class from those griz over in Missoula.

Holy smokes...how in the h#!! did this discussion get to this point?

Folks, nobody "has" to behave with class. We're all adults (including Hauck), and we're all responsible for our actions. He can speak about MSU in whatever way he chooses, and if Cat fans want to hate him for it, that's their right as well. Similarly, the manner in which Cat fans voice their distaste for Hauck reflects on them, just as my own words here reflect the kind of person I am.

Why is there more to this debate than that? Why does anybody *care* if Cat fans hate Hauck?

The thing about class is, others get to decide for themselves whether you have it or not; you aren't classy just because you proclaim that you are. If Cat fans think Hauck has no class, then that's the way it is. If certain Griz fans think that certain Cat fans have no class because of the way they express their hate for Hauck -- the same. And etc.

Must have been fans from State. I've heard they really don't expect fans "to act with class, for any time, on any level, for any sports, anywhere in the world." If that's so, why the complaint?

GFGriz: Here is an instance of “Griz Fan Class”. After the Griz beat the Cats in Bozeman in 2001, the Griz fans tore down the goal posts in Bozeman. The following year that Cats beat the Griz in Missoula and needless to say NO CAT FANS ran onto Missoula's field, because we are not a classless bunch like the majority of Griz fans (like yourself no doubt). Enjoy your self proclaimed class smart guy.

What a shocker, a lawyer who only hears what he wants regardless of the evidence against him, who whines and plays the victim better than Terrell Owens.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I'm not sure if that is the sound of GFgriz crying, or the ambulance he is chasing after.

Well, at least one lawyer from UM in this thread has a grasp of reality. I guess that is why one of them is working in New York, and one of them is working in the legal hotbed of Great Falls. #-o

GFGriz I think your hostility stems from being in Bobcat Country- Great Falls. Now I understand why you are are so insecure about the Griz. It is all coming together. We should take it easy on a guy like you. You are suffering from Bobcat shell shock!

I went to the Bison vs CMR football game last year. I started counting Logo's, after seeing tons of Griz stuff on both sides, I finely found someone with a cat logo - it was a real small logo, kinda like the guy wearing it wasn't to proud!

And you call GF cat country - Look around, Mr delusional
Did you check to see how much Great Falls High and CMR gear was being worn because I think due to the game, it's probably a little more appropriate wouldn't ya say? Last I checked, that game wasn't a COLLEGE football game, nor anything that involves the Cats or Griz. Since it is a pretty big game in Great Falls, and Old Memorial holds capacity, what 3000 people? I don't think it is a really good gauge of the other 50,000 people in Great Falls on to what college team they root for, if they root for any.

Well when you're the waterboy for one of the aforementioned teams, you tend to see a little of everything whether it be Blue and Gold or the other team's colors and regardless of which side you are feeding water to the players. Of course, BearBac's view is rather slanted.

It was mentioned that this thread is worth putting to rest now that the board's resident invalid has hijacked it! Now the epitome of class in GFGriz can give a good lesson to BearBac.
