It's not really a vacation, he is [making the quotation sign with the fingers on each side of my head] working from home.

He's just leading by example as to how our modern technology allows us to balance our work/life responsibilities. One can now even run a war remotely from the comfort of home, without a bothersome trip into the office.

If only my company gave me the same latitude with the work from home policy ... I could be getting some work done on a golf course right now.

Well don't forget to get your 2-hour workout in. Imagine how productive the nation would be if we just followed George's lead and worked from home.

My brother works as a firefighter at the Billings airport so when Cheney came in he got to talk with lot of the secret service. They all said this is a bunch of B.S. Clinton went on twice as many vacations, only he would slip in an official visit somewhere so the tax payers could pay for it.

He said everyone he talked to had a lot more respect for Bush as well. He didn't talk to them all by any means but the ones he did were pretty adamant about this.

1) I think that it is great to have a president that takes the time to take care of himself. I bet President bush will live until he is at least 100 because of his working out.

2) everybody eventually needs a vacation, especially from D.C. Even BAC will be going nuts by having to live in such a politisized town as D.C. The ability to go pretty much wherever out in the open and not have the fear of a sniper would be worth it.

3) So what if it is a working vacation, he is still working not like he is sleeping in until 2 in the afternoon

Personally, I don't have a problem with Bush taking a lengthy vacation, as long as the business of governing the country is not being neglected (which I am sure it is not). Being President is a 24/7 job, and regardless of whether he is in Washington, Martha's Vineyard, or Crawford, I'm sure he never gets a total reprieve from the job of running the country.

From a the standpoint of public perception, though, it might be helpful if his absence from Washington was not referred to as a "vacation." I think most of us on this board probably realize that, despite being "on vacation," he is still probably working fairly hard at the job of being President; however, the average auto worker in Detroit may not see it that way, and the headline "President Takes Five-Week Vacation in Texas" probably does not do much to boost the morale of the guy who spends ten hours per day toiling away at a factory somewhere.

I don't have a problem with Bush taking a vacation either. In fact, he and his staff can take the rest of his term off.
