I totally agree and with you KMax and if I were going out to buy an iPod today without any experience with them in the past I would definately check out the Zen Micro, the Sony, etc. Buy my iPod has been with me for 5 years now and I can't imagine having anything different.
Great points though, you are the voice of reason that will help Mslacat make the right choice for him.

I have an iPod and recently received a Dell Jukebox as a birthday gift. They are both pretty impressive machines but I found it interesting that the Dell Jukebox I have can hold up to 10000 songs and is about 100$ cheaper than the iPod I purchased about 2 years ago which holds only 3750 songs.rtb wrote:I totally agree and with you KMax and if I were going out to buy an iPod today without any experience with them in the past I would definately check out the Zen Micro, the Sony, etc. Buy my iPod has been with me for 5 years now and I can't imagine having anything different.

Everyone on this thread has really good points. I will, however, add one more. XM (or Sirius, for that matter) only work in the Continental US. In other words, if you want to take your music with you to Alaska, Hawaii, or anywhere else on the globe, you're better off with a personal music player (my choice: 20GB 4G iPod--LOVE IT!).
Recommendation: avoid any of the Sony players. For the most part, they do not play any other file format other than the Sony-proprietary format of ATRAC. ATRAC is one of the most difficult format to transfer from one audio device to another (thanks to oppressive DRM), as well as one of the worst quality formats available.
iPods are nice because you can choose to rip your CDs in Apple's Lossless Audio format. While it only works on iPods and in iTunes (which is available for PCs), if you choose to transfer the music to another computer, you can just burn the songs to a CD, and re-rip them, all with no audio quality loss.
Okay, that was way more than my $0.02...sorry.

I'd put an emoticon here, but there's not one that's appropriate for lust (after the G5, not necessarily the Shuffle...BobCatFan wrote:Proud new owner of Ipod Shuffle, G5 Mac 20 Inch Apple flat panel.
