I just don't think that many people make a big deal out of Canadians being in the U.S., even though they are much more likely to be competing for good jobs with American workers than someone from Mexico.

I don't have any figures handy either, but there are definitely a lot of Mexican immigrants here legally, and I have to assume that there are more here legally than illegally, based just on my observations around here.
Of course, California used to be a part of Mexico, so who exactly is an immigrant and who is a native are interesting philosophical questions in a non-legal sense as well.
