Tailgate w/ the Griz just got more complicated
I will be frank. The Bobcat fans have not developed Tailgating in Bozeman to the level / art the Griz have here in Missoula. I would bet more money is exchanged at/for the tailgating activities then actual gate admissions. With that and a stadium with absolutely no parking brings major problems.
Here is a story from the Missoulain about the new Washington Griz Tailgating rules. The thing about this is that I know quite a few guys/gals who spend most of there time on Game day in the comfy and spendy Griz Boxes. Most of these folks, as you would guess have big time (read $$$$$) to the Griz programs. I guarantee each and everyone of you that these rules will not apply these folks. They will sit in their boxes and drink from opening kickoff to the final play and maybe beyond. If you are not in the upper class of Griz fans be prepared for more game day hassles (especially if you are a student).

Remember not all Griz fans are created equal.

I don't know about Bozeman, but many people are busted every game in Missoula for drinking in the stadium, and the folks on the Griz Boxes will stock their box /fridge the friday before the game.JahGriz wrote:Are cat fans allowed to drink in their luxury boxes? As far as parking, how would MSU fair if they had another 8 to 10 thousand people at the games?
Just asking, I don't know.

The point of my thread was not "See how the Cats are better than the Griz" , I find that conversation boring unless it has to do with play on the court / field. My point was that, these new rules will only apply to the "little guy", and students. This would be true in my estimate whether the Bobcats , Griz, or any other school. Those who pay $30,000 or more for a Box are afforded more transgretion than others.JahGriz wrote:I'd say the exact same thing happens in Bozeman, if I had to guess.

I got your point mslacat, and you are nearly always a fair posters from what I've seen. And I agree with you that there is no way these rules apply to the luxury box people, which in some respects makes it seem like a two sided rule. But the big wigs have always been treated differently and always will, and it is at every football stadium with luxury boxes in the country as far as I can tell. The new rules at UM has changed nothing. People pay big money to rent/lease/use, or whatever is in the contract, these boxes. They are segregated from the common folk, so they can't cause problems with us during the games. I can see both sides of the arguement and both have legitimate arguments, I think. On one hand they are given special treatment, but on the other they basically are renting an apt. and should be able to do things in the confines of that apt, the normal fans can't do.

To be fair, I haven't seen whiskey and/or beer bottles being thrown on the field from the sky boxes. Infact, I have personally only seen it happen from the student section, but that may just be because we sit directly accross the field from the student section.mslacat wrote: My point was that, these new rules will only apply to the "little guy", and students.

However, I do know that there are a few drunks around EVERYWHERE by the end of the 3rd quarter and they tend to be the ones who cause problems. Now I'm not against having a good time, getting a good old Griz chearing buzz on or anything like that, but I am against falling down drunk, puking drunk and obnoxious drunk people in the stands sitting next to my or other people and their children.
The new tailgating rules are just an attempt to calm things down a bit before something terrible happens that we will ALL regret.
I myself support the new changes.
