I'm watching the Falcons/Jag game. The advantage they have is, they get to play someone besides themselves prior to the season opener. Plenty of mistakes on both teams. Takes time for the pros to figure things out.

I think the Cats are building to play someone other than themselves.

Look Out! 8)

Any comments on defense special teams coverage of kickoff/punt return, blocking FG's? This is an area it seems we could improve on, have not heard much about the coverage. Curious to know if this is team that looks to make things happen and go for the ball.

Attended this afternoon's scrimmage and was impressed with the Defense, especially the D-line. They stopped the run well, and played as if they had something to prove (which they do).

I'll add two things of note happened before the scrimmage, that some might not have seen or heard.

Coach Kramer introduced the newest Bobcat, #5. Sorry, I didn't catch his name because it was clear down at the other end of the field, but I do believe he is brand new, because he was not on the roster that was provided at the scrimmage. Also, Coach Kwiatkowski (I believe) said to the defense, "Let's get 3 turnovers today, just like we planned." The defense did their job, and when the third pick happened, most of defense yelled, shouted, and hollered " That's three!", or "There's three!"

These guys are excited to play and prove themselves. I can't wait for the game in Stillwater. Hopefully these guys will show the fans in Okla. that they mean business! 8)

Kickoff coverage was a tad shaky, but maybe thats just because Murray is just plain good. Punt return coverage was better than kickoff return coverage.

Also, Evan Groves impressed me today. He made a couple "ankle breaker" moves that made everyone in the crowd go "oooh!" I agree with Cletic - he is flat out good. Not knocking JD (haven't seen him run yet this fall), or Bass (good in his own right), I just like what I see from Groves.

Isaiah Taito also looked good - a hardnosed tough runner - kinda like Ryan Johnson. Kramer has stocked the running back coffers well for the seasons to come. It is good that Groves and Taito will be around next year to fill the shoes of JD and Bass.

Enough rambling, I gotta get some sleep! :)

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Thanks Griz8hr, exciting to hear about the D having a turnover mindset and making it happen! That makes me feel it was a "beautiful" scrum!

Roster shows #5 as Brian Walden, Freshman from Los Angeles, CA
Position: CB Number: 05, Height: 5-9 Weight: 175

Is this the new player?

I decided to take the trip to Bozeman and catch the scrim. Some of you may have noticed me. I was the one chasing my son all over the stands on both sides.

Although I haven’t attended any Bobcat scrimmages, I’m sure glad Kramer mentioned the fatigue. Because they sure did look exhausted most of the time. 2’s and 3’s of course played hard, but the 1’s did not look sharp on offense. The 1st D looked good. I was impressed with Hunter and a couple of good breakups he had, even though Lulay threw bullets right in the numbers. I was also glad to see Eddie Smith healthy. Like everyone has mentioned Groves is tough. First time I saw Bass. He’s short, but packin’ a lot of muscle and very quick.

Once our boys get to play someone else, I think the offense will show itself. I’m not worried.

It was hard to evaluate the coverage/return teams because it seemed to me they were only going about 80%, except for Murray, wow….. He’s fast! If he gets loose on a kickoff, goodbye.

Anyone know about JD and Force and why they weren’t playin’?

Why wasn't there anything going on at 4:00 on the 27th? I went over to the field and there was no one there.

The Bobcats had Family Day today with a bbq and pics time with the kids. Last year it turned into a "smear your favorite bobcat player" with the kids chasing the guys around for about an hour. My understanding was that they were going to practice after this. So, I"m assuming they were probably done with everything by that time.
Not willing to bet on this, but that's my guess.
