look, if we sneak into the tourney i won't be shocked. but i wouldn't be money on it. and with 8 conference games left to play, i don't know how you can think all we have to do is beat sac and isu to get in. we also have to play the two best teams at home, and i don't think those are a given. and with road games against nau, weber, ewu, and psu....we could easily lose anyone of those. i just don't know how anyone could look at this team....the teams we still have to play....and how we play on the road and come to the conclusion that there is no way that we won't make the playoffs.
Portland State is ineligble for the tournament.
Sac State is sitting at 1-7. Will they go 5-3 or better the rest of the way to finish at 6-10 or better? Highly unlikely, with trips to MSU, UM, and UNC still on the schedule.
EWU is 2-5 and just lost to Sac State. They would need to go 4-5 to finish at 6-10. Certainly not out of the question, but I doubt they do any better than that.
ISU is 2-5 as well. They will also need to go 4-5 to finish at 6-10. Again, not out of the question but 4-5 seems about as well as they're going to do if they only beat MSU by 5 at home with how horrendously MSU played.
Then you've got Weber and NAU sitting at 3-4, still 1 1/2 games behind MSU.
With all of these teams beating up on each other and probably losing almost all their games against UM and UNC, it's pretty inconceivable to me that MSU doesn't get in the tournament at 7-9, and I would say they're likely to get in at 6-10 even if they only win one more game. The Bobcats are good enough that they're going to win more than one game, even though they aren't as good as the 5-1 start may have made them seem!
Hell, let's just go watch the highly entertaining and extremely good women's team and stop worrying about just how monumental this year's late season collapse for the men will be!
