I laughed at that too!

Just one of those ugly games. Every team suffers through a few of them a season. That was not the normal MSU team (or even the normal ISU team for that matter). Oddly, I think I'd be more confident Saturday had you played lights=out today.

Absolutely pathetic. Worst road trip I have seen from a Cats team in years. Hell, this could be the worst Bobcat road team I have ever seen. We barely, BARELY beat Sac on the road, and that's IT.

I would be extremely surprised if we win one more road game this year. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't make the BSC tournament, and that will be an impressive feat considering on team isn't even eligible for the tourney.

I spent quite a bit of time watching the women's game-a team that actually knows how to play basketball.

This was one of the most incompetent performances by a Bobcat baseketball team I've ever seen. Other than Eric Rush's second half (but where was he in the first half?). Some of our guys are really regressing. What a train wreck this team is on the road. Probably only a matter of time before they start playing that way at home as well.

i agree with ya but i'd bet this team sneaks away with another win or two on the road. but i agree with the tourney. i've been saying all year that this team just isn't that good and i'd be really surprised if we make the conference tourney. that wasn't knocking on the guys...just calling it like i see it. winning our first couple at home was a little like fools gold. i truly think this team will finish somewhere in the middle of the pack an likely miss the tourney. anything can happen though which is why i suffer through all the games like many of you!

Come on guys, I share the frustration after two horrible games this weekend, but there is no way that MSU misses the conference tournament. Even at 5-3, we're sitting in third place with all six teams below us with under .500 records, one of which isn't even eligible to make the tournament. All we need to do is win one or two more home games (Sac, ISU still coming to Bozeman) and we're in the tournament. UM and UNC are clearly the class of the league right now, but MSU is still very much in the running for the 3 seed.

We'll make the conference tournament...and then lose in the first round like we always do. Sorry guys-I know I'm being too negative.

Yup bobcats are a very weak road team and always have been under Huse. Remember last year the Cats barely managed to score 13 points in the first half against NAU. That's pathetic for a college team, but it's not the only miserable performance Huse' teams have had. They also had a game at ISU in which they only scored 15 points in the first half and another game against the Bengals where they only managed 12 points in one half. On top of that, Huse teams have historically performed worse in the second half of conference.

Probably - but that is a perfectly acceptable amount of pessimism. To say that MSU can't even finish in the Top 7 is a bit of a stretch even for the most frustrated (here comes the late season swoon again!!!) Bobcat basketball fan given the current standings.

look, if we sneak into the tourney i won't be shocked. but i wouldn't be money on it. and with 8 conference games left to play, i don't know how you can think all we have to do is beat sac and isu to get in. we also have to play the two best teams at home, and i don't think those are a given. and with road games against nau, weber, ewu, and psu....we could easily lose anyone of those. i just don't know how anyone could look at this team....the teams we still have to play....and how we play on the road and come to the conclusion that there is no way that we won't make the playoffs.

You do remember this is MSU Baskeball don't you? We might have the most schizophrenic program in the Big Sky. They either exceed expectations with a marginal season or come up vastly short when they are expected to be decent. The way this team is playing right now, it would not suprise me at all if this team ended up at 7-9 or worse. They are simply outmanned at nearly every position. They start games cold as ice, shoot WAY too many 3's, and are undiciplined on offense, especially on the road. I like their hustle and defense, but that doesn't win many games.

Look at the roster for next season; it is a roster full of role players. I'm not usually this pessimistic, but damn it, I expect better from my alma mater.

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Portland State is ineligble for the tournament.
Sac State is sitting at 1-7. Will they go 5-3 or better the rest of the way to finish at 6-10 or better? Highly unlikely, with trips to MSU, UM, and UNC still on the schedule.
EWU is 2-5 and just lost to Sac State. They would need to go 4-5 to finish at 6-10. Certainly not out of the question, but I doubt they do any better than that.
ISU is 2-5 as well. They will also need to go 4-5 to finish at 6-10. Again, not out of the question but 4-5 seems about as well as they're going to do if they only beat MSU by 5 at home with how horrendously MSU played.
Then you've got Weber and NAU sitting at 3-4, still 1 1/2 games behind MSU.

With all of these teams beating up on each other and probably losing almost all their games against UM and UNC, it's pretty inconceivable to me that MSU doesn't get in the tournament at 7-9, and I would say they're likely to get in at 6-10 even if they only win one more game. The Bobcats are good enough that they're going to win more than one game, even though they aren't as good as the 5-1 start may have made them seem!

Hell, let's just go watch the highly entertaining and extremely good women's team and stop worrying about just how monumental this year's late season collapse for the men will be!

no you're right on this one msu. even with a huge colllapse we'll probably get in. although i should clarify that when i think of the tourney i think of the 4 best teams that play in one universal site. we might get a road game somewhere and lose but i don't think of that as playoffs. i should have stated as such before i talked about playoffs.

but you're right. with 9 teams in the league, and only 8 eligible for playoffs, i guess i'll concede this conference is just weak enough where we could probably beat out sac and isu for the 5th or 6th spot.

The way things are going, I'd guess we'll get a trip to either Ogden or Flagstaff for a first round game...and be put out of our misery pretty quick.

Man!

Tonight was ugly; No doubt about that. But Griz fans have more faith than you all. MSU is a given to qualify for the 6-team tournament, and my guess is they host a first round game (e.g. finish in the top 4). As I noted above, I'm not even all that confident about Saturday.

I saw a lot more effort tonight than against the Griz not that it mattered much.

This team has no identity and there isn't one thing they do well. I do like the that Tre Johnson was getting some more minutes. Seems like we will need the young guys to develop and see how that works out. It will be a rough year.

I don't really like to call out players as they are just college kids doing their best but Bobby looks really, really bad right now and is hurting more than helping the team. I was at the game and was wondering why Bobby played at all in the second half and why he was taking a last second, game on the line shot?
