1982...

Post by Cat Grad » Tue Aug 23, 2011 9:55 pm

Talk about a bad taste in your mouth, I still get sick at how that game in the land of the moron ended  Even makes me think about the jerk credited with all the sheep jokes we endure, U. Utah Phillips and thought I'd post a picture of it, him, whatever :yuck: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utah_Phillips" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Anyway (and if I digress, f.u. for not keeping up) The school we play next week has a pitiful record against that place a few miles to their south--you know, the one that stole Yale's Y in order to admit more of the kids Boyseee State gladly accepts because they can't spell BYU so they can go to the throne [-X

Hope we can leave Salt Lake, UT (sorry for the plagerism-- the big SLUT) and finish as I still think we were going to that day years ago. Ewetahhh brings to my somewhat elderly mind the 63 Naval Academy team and their misfortunes in Texass that year. Hope your "prophet" will tell your zebras to let the kids playing the game determine the final score. How about heading to Bozeman so we don't have to go baaackkk to all you sheep lovers...God help this country if one of yours actually runs for president in this critical time...your corruption puts your neighbors to shame [-X

I think there was some anti-Mormon sentiment cloaked in historical football talk in there somewhere....

Kind of a head-scratcher for a mod, honestly. I guess it's kinda sorta Bobcat football related ... but tastes more like smack than anything.

Back before 1982.....around the time Texas was playing Navy?????.... when I was actually a member of the Bobcat football team, we had a teamate leave at the end of his freshman year for an LDS mission. He was one of the best guys I met at MSU and we were sorry to see him go. Plan was for him to return when his mission was completed, but he finished at BYU instead. I see his name from time-to-time listed as a financial contributor/donor to various MSU programs.
Having said that....I have no more to say.
Except...did you hear the one about the traveling salesman and the sheepherder?........

That was terrific.

I have absolutely no idea what you said, but you did a great job saying it.

I think cad grad does that on purpose. It's his Ozzy Osboure impression.

The Utah Phillips / sheep reference has me stumped but other than that

We played Utah and lost in 1982 ( I dont know anything about how the game ended, maybe a bad call.

Utah is 31-51-4 vs BYU

SLUT = abbreviation for Salt Lake City Utah

References to the Mormon prophets and again reffing in a previous game.

Don't know about the 63' Army vs TX ref and again the last sheep reference, (Utah has sheep?)

Does anybody remember the 1982 MSU vs Utah game?

In Chuck Stobart’s first game as Utah head coach, the Utes defeated the Bobcats 30–12 at Rice Stadium. After a rather sloppy game, writer Doug Robinson for the Deseret News described the contest as “Curly, Mo and Larry Stuff.” Utah scored two touchdowns in the final two minutes to make the game look more respectable than it really was. Montana State, down 16–12, had a chance to take a late fourth quarter lead when Utah’s punter mishandled the snap and was sacked on Utah’s 20-yard line. Montana State advanced the ball to the 11-yard line, but they were unable to convert on 4th and 1. Carl Monroe was the hero and lone bright spot for the offense; he scored two touchdowns, including a 96 yard kickoff return on the first play of the game. He also rushed for 167 yards on 25 carries.
