I know I'm new at this posting thing, but this made me laugh out loud!

I'm not an expert, BUT I was visiting with a couple of guys that are former GRIZ players, graduated a few years ago, and here's what they had to say......
"I hope it snows, and rains, and everything else, that's the only way to stop your passing game", "All I can do is hope for a miracle, we (Griz) have no running game, we have no passing game, we're screwed"

It's really pretty simple. The Cats have the most efficient and balanced offense in the Big Sky. It doesn't matter how many yards rushing Kirk gets. If the Griz put 8 in the box, the Cats will burn them through the air. If they stay in a cover 2, the Cats will run. The Cats are very different from other teams. They don't have to run or throw. But, the Griz simply won't be able to stop both. Look at the difference in 3rd down efficiency. Cats are by far the best, which means the opponent can't load up for anything in particular and it means no matter what play the Cats run, they're very good at it.

The defenses are both very good, but are very different. Griz rely on blitzing, the Cats hardly ever blitz. The key for the Cats is that they have been able to get pressure on the QB with their front 4 alone. (look at the sack stats). That means they have a lot of guys in coverage. Griz, on the other hand, get pressure by blitzing leaving their secondary vulnerable. On the run, the Cats are able to stop the run in their base defense. Griz rely on run blitzes, once again leaving them susceptible to the big play.

I think one of the big differences is red zone efficiency. The Cats score a lot more touchdowns than the Griz. The spread offense just isn't as effective in the red zone. If Griz just kick field goals, they'll lose.

Other than my posts this is the only guy so far that has a clue.

I agree with almost everything you said but you are forgetting a few things.

Yes your offense is very balanced you are correct. Akpla has almost twice as many catches as the next guy Bleskin. TJ should be on him all day long so that pretty much takes him out of the equation. That leaves Roots on Bleskin and other than height I am more than comfortable with that match up as well.

There are no other teams that can match up against your passing game like that one on one.

This leaves our Safeties and LBs free to cover what little you have left, Ellis, Kirk, Gilbert and I am pretty sure thats covered. Even if you dont pass then we have added run support. I said it before, you guys just dont match up with us well. You dont have the one or 2 big glaring advantages you have had against the other teams you have squeaked by in the BSC.

We have the players and personnel to play in a 3-4, 4-3, 4-2-5 and your QB hasnt seen that many multiple looks all season. In fact I know that is going to give him trouble on passing downs, that and nobody open. I would be shocked if we play a ton of zone but it will be mixed in some.

Bottom line is our defense can match up with whatever you run or throw at us.......I am not sure I can say the same about your offense matching up with our D.

You are mistaken there, as coach Phlu pointed out the cats have been able to watch film on you guys all season and that is all we have done all season long is look at film of the griz.
We've never paid any attention to the film of any of the other teams we've played this year because all we've done is watch you guys, and still we've beat all comers. Now imagine how prepared we are for this game having spent all season only watching film of you. That certainly has to give any and all narcissistic griz goose bumps knowing how much they have been watch all year.

Yes we can beat the griz. Though I think it will come down to turnovers because of the colder weather. I just don't see how the griz can pull it off in Bozeman. In the last griz game you had to kick 6 FG's and I think 5 were near the redzone (correct me if I am wrong) and that is against a D2 school at home. That says something about the offense. I don't want to hear the old excuse of that they griz didn't want to show their hand. Heck, its not like it is the first game of the year. The Cats have seen plenty of footage all year. The griz have been inconsistent and only put one solid game together against Weber at home.

We will beat you all day on play action (rolling the pocket) and crossing routes. You are going to have to blitz to stop the run and the middle will be wide open. You may match up better to us, but you also have not played a guy that can stick the ball on a rope on target across the middle like DMac can. The game will go just like last year except the Cats will score more points in the second half this year.

No team is "due" for ******; that's not how it works. It's called preparation during the week and execution on game day. Clearly if you think we haven't had our bad game yet (which I disagree with see UNC and WS), that just mean we have had good prepartion during the week and executed on game day which is props to our coaches and players. Same can be said about the griz not putting 2 quarters together all season. Falls on your prepartion during the week and execution on gameday. Clearly your coaches aren't doing the job needed to get the players ready to play and the players aren't ready to play when the time to play is in front of them. The only thing I see being "due" is dUMb's time at the top officially being over. Saturday will tell the story.

UM is selling out to stop the run and even if they're able to create 3rd and longs they don't have anything in the form of a pass rush from their front four. They will be forced to send LBs after McGhee sits back and takes them apart. When they do it'll just leave more wide open receivers.

Our offense is a nightmare to prepare for and UM cannot matchup. They can "fly around" all they want. In the run game alone we have both Tray and Kirk up the gut, McGhee faking to them and following, we have Gilbert in motion running reverse and at tailback giving a speed element, and Kirk running the Wildcat. That leaves UM hosed on play action.

Look, you had a nice little season but seriously, this isnt your version of Kansas anymore.

You finally were able to climb atop the BSC this season, granted the BSC is incredibly weak year after year and this year was even a down year. Kudos you still got it done and that is a HUGE hurdle for you guys to get over.

This is basically a playoff game and we all know what happens to you guys year after..........every 4 or 5 years when you make the playoffs. Last year it was big bad NDSU coming into your house and kicking you around and this year it will be us..........AGAIN.

Alpha is just setting all of us up to say 'I told you so' come Sunday no matter when the Cats win and/or the griz get lucky and win. His posts have no merit when he states JJ is better then DM. The two QB's aren't even on the same level, JJ is playing pop warner and DM is playing BCS. I know it is tough to swallow, but you have three more years of it!
