AG1 Flashback - Montana State

Post by AlphaGriz1 » Mon Nov 21, 2011 10:45 am

Woke up at 5:30am in Butte -9 degrees.

Started driving to Bozeman and was noticing an abundance of #4 license plates also heading east on I-90. Roads were not bad over Homestake Pass and it was getting a lot warmer -4. Turned off the interstate at the Ennis exit to hit the Town Pump. Got out to put gas in the truck and had 3 different cars drive by that were leaving....all of them yelled FTG. I went inside to buy a 24 pack of Budweiser to pay off a bet I lost to TomCat88. Continued on to Bozeman and it was already above 2 degrees and climbing like a rocket.

Driving up Huffine Lane from 4 corners started to remind me of why I hated living in Bozeman....speed limit is posted at 55 and traffic was accelerated to a whopping 36 MPH.......I later realized that was a precursor to the day. Arrived at the stadium and parked in the field to the west of the stadium and was only told to fu*k off 2 times as I walked through the snow to the tailgate area. I noticed everyone staring at me and couldnt figure out if it was my Griz gear which always looks stunning or the fact that they had never seen a fat guy wearing shorts before. Walked into my friend Kevins tailgate party, said hello to a bunch of guys I met the previous trip to Bozeman and started receiving the good kind of ribbing that makes this kind of rivalry great. They asked me what I thought about the game and I told them they showed up for nothing because not only are the Griz going to win they will win by 13+ I told them all I was going to have A LOT OF CONSOLING TO DO with that many people in the parking lot.

They laughed and said I had too much to drink on the drive over.

I left that tailgate to head over to the Bobcat Nation tailgate and meet up with Randy and Kevin. As always the people at that tailgate were gracious and good natured. We all walked over to watch the Bobcat prowl and this is where I take FULL CREDIT for the way Saturdays game played out. Just before the Prowl started Rob Ash was riding back to "The Brick" in a golf cart and was high fiving people. I step out into the roadway in full Griz gear and shorts and I am sure Ash made them slow down so he could High 5 AG1...(I am sure Ash would tell you that looking back, it was the highlight of his day).......little did he know that when contact was made I had put an extremely serious voo doo hex on him.

This game was already over.

Kevin and Randy can verify this part of story. I told them it had nothing to do with the fact that the cat offense didnt really match up well with the Griz defense.

They laughed and insisted that I must have had too much to drink on the drive over from Butte.

Walked around after the Prowl and took some photos of the game day activities. Lots of extremely cordial cat fans commented and wished me well in their own unique way, FTG, "look at that fat fag wearing dark pink", and my favorite, "why did you even make the trip Grizhole". I did look for that guy after the game, to explain why but I think he left before the game was over.

Stadium fills up game starts and I was shooting video from my seat. I was the only Griz fan in the section I was in. Then security comes over and tells me I have to leave my seat. I said I had a ticket for the seat I was in and that didnt seem to matter. I was told I have 2 options, leave the seat or leave the stadium, I told them they had 2 options and they didnt like either of them. So I left the area and proceeded to walk around and take pictures and shoot video. I ended up in the standing room only area on the NW side of the field.

This my friends is where the magic happened.

I was standing by myself and watching the game unfold pretty much like I thought it would, I met some of the best representatives that MSU has ever had in the 25 years I have been attending games in Bozeman. They were so bad and obnoxious I considered leaving, but then I decided to award them with the honorary degree of "Douchebag Emeritus", and the only way they were getting me to leave my seat again is if many cops were escorting me out of that stadium. I usually dont talk a lot of smack (maybe 2-3 mins at a time) but these 3 guys made me dig down deep and take ****** to a level that has never been seen in Bobcat Stadium. I was pretty much on cruise control for the next 48 mins of non stop make a complete ass out of myself mode. I was so obnoxious I had Griz fans asking me to tone it down and asking me how much I had to drink, they got told to GFT as well......these dickheads hammered me for 1 qtr and I gave it back for the next 3.

1 of 4 ratio.....they should be able to figure that one out....they live it.

The plan was to engrave myself in their gray matter so deep and painful that their last few seconds on earth, before they check out for good, they would remember the single biggest assh*le Griz fan they ever met.

Image

There were a group of 7-9 UM college students that jumped aboard the AG1 express and helped shout these guys out of our "home away from home" stadium.

I remember the trail of tears exodus from a few years ago and this year would have been a repeat performance but the cat fans that were actually at the stadium in 2011 didnt leave the same way. IMO this is because these guys really bought into the hype and were stunned and confused when leaving the stadium, this metered their departure so there wasnt a focused trail like last time.

This game was so one sided that I noticed TJ spent more time taunting the crowd than he did covering Akpla, in any other game I would have commented that he was just being a thuggish jackass like he has been most of his career but not today, today this crowd deserved everything they got for their behavior the 2 weeks leading up to the game and especially their game day behavior. I cant tell you how many text messages I got from cat fans before this game but I can tell you how many I have got since the game was played........and I will tell you how many they will receive in the next few days........1 I Told You So.

Final thoughts, to the kid I used for a toboggan, you deserved it, you opened your mouth and I filled it with snow. I hope a lesson was learned. To the parents of the kid I used as a toboggan, I didn't know he was 9, he opened his mouth and I filled it with snow.........this isnt Penn St but it is a microcosm of your kids life if he continues to be a cat fan.

A very special thank you to the girl that stood in front of me at the game................"breakfast was wonderful".......I am sure thats what you were thinking Sunday morning.
Your welcome.
Image

Thanks to all the good cat fans that "get it" you are not who this was directed at and YES I know we have some of the same fans in Missoula. When I see them act this way I am man enough to tell them to STFU and have some class.

Also, this was the first Griz cat game I ever attended, where I had zip, zero, nadda to drink......until I drove back to Billings.

See you cats in 3-4 weeks if you can keep up.

Your day was better than mine, Alpha.

Started in Billings, and I should have known it was going to be a bad day when they forgot the egg on my sausage McMuffin with Egg.

The drive to Bozeman wasn't too bad, aside from blowing snow in the left lane, mostly dry and decent roads.

There was some sort of football game, though it seemed only one team showed up.

After, I found out that Gandolfo's no longer carries my favorite sandwich.

The roads were even better heading back to Billings, until I felt a "thunk" and my car broke down about 2 miles outside of the Zoo exit. An hour waiting for a tow, getting towed to my mechanic, leaving the car, getting a ride home, etc. pretty much was the icing on a sh*t sandwich of a day.

So now it looks like I'll need a new timing belt in order to go to the December 3 game.

(Oops, left out the part about how a rather *very* drunk woman 20 years my senior gave me a half-hearted lap dance and kiss on my forehead despite my clear lack of interest.)

She had beer in one of her boots......and a flask in the other. I also like how easy her boots came off.

Webdav, that sounds like a shi*ty day, sorry to hear about that. I always save those days in my spacious brain.........that way when I am having another one of those days I can always say...."Well it wasnt as bad as"...., "this doesnt even rank in the top 3 worst days.....or "Wow this really is the worst day of my life". At least your car will be fixed for the next trip to Bozeman so that eliminates the vehicle problems......but you are on your own when it comes to McDonalds.

Car troubles and athletic events can't truly make for a top 3 worst day - we got home safe and sound. Really bad days start with "your dad had a heart attack" or "they found a spot on my mammogram."

Such a beautiful story

You probably wouldn't have been given so much ****** if you didn't look like you'd just been released from Deer Lodge, right?

I think I'll dig up this thread in a year and provide my personal experience for my trek to Missoula next year (or maybe even in three weeks) :)

Anyway, glad you made the game. I was a little disappointed that I didn't see you at our tailgate. So many folks there are "fans" of yours from reading the board, haha.

I met a couple of my "fans" at the BN tailgate...................they loved me. As soon as I left.

I really tried to get over to your tailgate......the Griz Burning one right? Wanted to see that, its awesome. I promise I will make it next year......will be busy most Saturdays until the title game.

For what its worth AG1, sorry you had a poor experience. Had i been in the area I would have had your back (I would have had any football fan's back if they were being handled by a foe who out numbered them). Thanks for acknowledging that not all cat fans are that way. We aren't. You met some of the a-holes. Can't imagine why you got booted from your seat. Never heard of that before. We are working on it.

dammit Alpha.... can't you just go back to being a total jacka## like you used to be? It's just not as fun when I can't pick a fight with you every day.

If true, I'm sorry you had to put up with those idiots, but I have no doubt you can handle it. I heard a lot of downright nasty things from Cat fans and Griz fans alike at this game. To the Cat fans I told to be quiet, you deserved it. To the Griz fans that complained about the reffing when you were up by a couple of scores... well, you deserved the finger.

I've long said this is one of the greatest rivalries in the nation, but it's just getting downright ugly. Either that or I'm just getting too old to enjoy it anymore...

Triple C its not that big of a deal when this kind of stuff happens to me....but when it happens to kids, smaller people that cant handle it or older couples on either side its complete bullsh*t. I am the kind of person that thinks this kind of stuff adds to the experience of these games so I dont sweat it if bad things happen....it just makes for a better story when its all over.

Trust me, I could have done the grown up thing and left but decided that in the worst case scenario I could have held my own against these 3 until security showed up.

I will be honest, I was complaining about the reffing when we were up big, I told them to throw another flag when the Refs were running off the field after the game was over and I was yelling throw it deep with less than 2 mins on the clock..........not because I really meant it but because its was aggravating the hell out of the "Three Doucheketeers". I even started following them out of the stadium when they left and didnt shut up until I hit the parking lot. They split up after they commented, "he cant follow all 3 of us, see you guys downtown". I told them I couldnt wait.

I hope they enjoyed their day as much as I did.

Trust me under normal circumstances I may have walked over and kicked my own ass if I saw somebody acting like that.

Funny thing is I now know who Alpha griz 1 is. I had a nice talk with him. I didn't know who he was until I saw some pictures he took. It blows my mind he is so hated, because when I spoke to him at the game he was rather friendly. I think we all say stupid things on here, sometimes I think more so it is just to get people all fired up. I know that is why I do it. I will break the mold and say thanks to Alpha griz 1, not only for the talk but the nice gift you gave me.

Yeah, if you were in the group at the BN tailgate it was fun chatting with you guys.

Well, I know it wasn't you I flipped off because none of the 4 were wearing shorts! I should've made it over to the BN tailgate to meet you but I was busy trying to find an acquaintance who was bringing extra tickets for my friends.

I get it; their smack/**** stunk. This may come as a surprise to you but your **** did and does too, The level you took ****** to was the lowest level and it should surprise no one that you speak proudly of taking anything to the lowest level ever.
The Griz fans you write about were probably 1 just trying to have an enjoyable time at the game 2 trying to stop you from instilling in everyone around you a very bad image of Griz fans 3 trying to protect you from yourself 4 all of the above.
If you describe yourself as “the single biggest assh*le Griz fan” I’m sure that no one around you would argue or disagree with you. Again your pride at being the lowest comes as no surprise.
So are you saying that you are the UM Jerry Sandusky? Wow just wow! I did not witness what you describe, but does someone need to call the police?

Alpha my response to you here at Bobcat nation is like my response to the garbage I took to the curb this morning. I only do these things to try and make my surroundings better, and I’m doing it from a much higher road than you know of.
I care deeply about having an enjoyable time in Wagriz and Bobcat stadiums. Fans like you and the three you wrote of stand in the way of that no matter what team you claim. While one could try to just ignore you on this board and elsewhere it seems that the low level that you go to, and seem so proud of, spills over onto innocent bystanders and stinks up the place .
Sure you can actually talk some football and be ok but just like most any food left out too long you can't stop yourself from rotting, spoiling, going bad and stinking up the place.

Wow, looks like you put a lot of time into this post. I would have read it, but I could care less about anything you have to say.

There were a group of 7-9 UM college students that jumped aboard the AG1 express and helped shout these guys out of our "home away from home" stadium.
