Kral and Shann Ferch highlights...
This is something I came across today and thought I would share here. A youtube of the Ferch brothers captured in two sports broadcasts. Those kids could play!
Enjoy the dunks...

Those were good 'ol days. People actually got to the Fieldhouse early to get a seat.

I played against Kral. I'm 6'5 and he went right over the top of me.

That NIT game against Washington was the most electric basketball game I've ever been to. We lost in OT, but what a great game. Shann had a great reverse dunk in last minute as I recall. That clip is awesome. I've seen it before, but it's cool to watch every now and then.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

The thing about that team at MSU was the pace that they played. They set a high pace and we brought in slasher types that followed them... thinking of Nico Harrison and others!
Sadly, those days seem to be long gone.

This should be required viewing for everyone running MSU today..for the the president , to the AD, to the coaches, boosters, heck, even the students. Folks who are younger and were not around back then need to see this.
I still say that MSU could have a great hoops program. I'm waiting.
I see some life stirring..
Thanks for sharing this! Great stuff!!

my unscientfic economic "observation" is that MT used to have several playmakers per year that could do this (maybe not this good) but certainly some playmakers, until the rise of U M football in 92/93ish. then the "quality" maybe style of player certainly changed... maybe again i am just making things up but you sure don't see that any more.. fun to see and i just think we are more of a football style state now (with no population).

TomCat88,
I was a youngster, but in that Washington game, did they have the two 7 footers at the time? wasn't there some questionable call in the end of that game? I recall Starner ready to choke one or all of the officials.

I had season tickets in those day and wouldn't miss a game for any reason. My Dad and I would drive in from Butte to watch.
That NIT team was really good and should have been invited to the NCAA tournament. I believe they would have made some noise had they gone.
The Washington game was a great game but we couldn't stop their bigs and ended up losing in OT. A truly great Bobcat team.

They had one 7 footer, his name was Christian Welp. There was another big kid about 6'8", but I don't remember his name.autocat wrote:TomCat88,

Oh c'mon! The story is much better with two 7 footers-or...wasn't Welp at least 7'3". And didn't Detlef Schrempf play in that one for UW (not really, but he was there in that "era").
I remember it like yesterday!

Yeah...the Nico Harrison, Quadre Lollis, Kwesi Coleman, et. al era was awesome. I remember mixing it up with those guys at Bobcat Camp in High School and watching them at the Fieldhouse/NCAA tourney against Syracuse (Jon Wallace and Co.). I miss those days for sure.
I went to the Cal State Bakersfield and the Willamette game this year and saw some flashes of brilliance from our guys. I don't know if it's nostalgia, or the fact that I'm just not in to basketball as much as I used to be...but it seems some of the magic is missing. I still love our Cats in every sport though.

I'd like to introduce you to our host...he's got his...and I've got mine...meet the decline

Tom Domako, you were my hero! Burying all those outside shots like they were free throws! I'll never forget the guy who had a trench coat covered with the pictures of you on it, the picture of Domako on one side and the Cats schedule on the back, the coat was completely full. I think it was the Big Sky Confrence Tournment game against Boise St, the place was pack and the guy with the coat was standing courtside, man those were the days.....
