tv/electronics gurus...

Post by ilovethecats » Wed Feb 15, 2012 1:34 pm

so, my wife really outdid herself and got me a tv for valentines day. (sorry alpha, but she beat me to the punch :D ) anyway, it's a 60" sharp aquos. without knowing anything about tv's, it seems very nice to me. really praying alpha doesn't tell me otherwise. [-o<

anyway, for what we use it for, i.e. sports and regular programs....i am VERY happy so far. however, when i decided to play a game of madden with my son on it last night on the ps3 i had an issue that i was hoping someone could help me with.

it seems as though the reaction time on the new tv is a split second off which made playing this game very difficult. for instance, on the opening kickoff, when i hit "x" at the end of the scale it took too long and didn't register until the bar was coming back the other way. so my 99% kick turned into like 75%. same thing happens when trying to change players on defense. by the time it changes, the guy i'm trying to tackle is past me. and offense as well. when i throw a ball, i like to change to the receiver so i can jump and catch the ball. way too hard to do now as by the time my guy changes and i jump....the ball is past me. :x

anyone who plays games can understand my frustration. i was just playing madden and tiger on my old tv on saturday with no issues. but trying to play on the new tv has been terrible and i'm really hoping there is a simple solution or something that i am missing.

did all this rambling make sense? anyone have any similar issues and know what to do? please and thanks.

I'm no expert, but have you updated the firmware on the PS3?

Also, there might be a calibration area within the settings of the PS3 to properly set the PS3 responses to that of the TV.

Call Sony, they are really good with their technical help.

Check to see if the tv has a "game mode" setting on it. Not sure if this is the same tv: http://www.sharpusa.com/ForHome/HomeEnt ... E633U.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but if so it appears it does and should address exactly what you are talking about.
Vyper Drive - game mode eliminates perceptible lag between game consoles and the TV display.
