Mountlake Terrace saved its best game for its biggest moment. Marquis Armstead scored a game-high 24 points and Ryan Shannon added 17 points, four rebounds and six assists, sending the fifth-ranked Hawks to Tacoma for the first time since 2009.
"It was amazing," Shannon said. "It was basically the best feeling I've ever had in my life."
The Hawks (23-1) opened the game on a 12-2 run, but Decatur (18-7) answered, keeping the game close until halftime. Dom Hunter finished with 23 points for Decatur, but it was all Mountlake Terrace in the second half.
"It's amazing," Armstead said. "It's the first time in a while, and this team has had that goal since Day 1."

Shannon's team plays Rainier Beach tomorrow at 9AM. Beach was ranked No. 1 for most of the year, but lost a couple games down the stretch. A lot of people are taking Beach to win it all. Good Luck Ryan and Mountlake!!

Terrace fell to a very good Rainier Beach team yesterday. 67-51. Shannon had a decent game with 10 points on 5 of 11 shooting. Only two rips, two blkd shots. Their other two scoring leaders Armstead and Fernandez were held in check. Armstead had 16 points but was just 3 of 10 and got half of those from the FT line. Combined 3-19 shooting. Terrace had the edge inside outrebounded them 34-27, but Beach's perimeter, which includes a Kansas recruit, was too quick and had 11 steals.
I expect a Beach vs. Seattle Prep final.

So we got ourselves a big, athletic guy who can't rebound very well? Think we'll redshirt him?

No, I wouldn't say that. He rebounds well, but is on a team with a big front line, so the boards get spread around.BLACKnBLUEnGOLD wrote:So we got ourselves a big, athletic guy who can't rebound very well? Think we'll redshirt him?
Yes, he'll probably red-shirt.
