We've heard on this board that players don't like playing for Huse, don't know if that is solid information but seems to be a pattern

This is Reid's Replacement on the Roster: Flavian Davis.

Unfortunately, I can't find a whole lot of useful information on his strengths and weaknesses as a basketball player. Apparently he played both inside and wing in high school and his 3 pointer isn't very good.

Listed as a 2- and 3-star recruit depending on what site you look at. Rated an 87 on ESPN coming out of HS.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Definitely not good news. Add to that we have the question marks regarding Xavier Blount. Will his injuries heal to the point where he will be back to 100% next season? If so, will he even be on the team, pending the outcome of his legal matter regarding the assault near the end of the year?

All that aside, this another troubling aspect of Huses's tenure at MSU. We have had many, many discussions regarding his team's continual collapses at the end of every season. But this is another disturbing trend. We seem to lose players every year who leave the team because they want to finish up their career someplace else. It would be one thing if it was due to injuries or academics, but these guys that are leaving just want out of the program. I won't judge on the caliber of Huse's character or personality because I don't personally know him, but something is going on to make these kids want to leave.

I agree completely. And it would be one thing if this had happened one or two times during his tenure, but it seems like we go through this every single year. So then he'll have to go out and recruit a bunch of new players, and once again everyone will give him a pass next year because we have so many young/inexperienced players, thinking that we'll be much improved the following season after they've had a year in the program. Many people posted comments to that effect during the past season, as a justification for giving Huse one more year. But then another 2-3 players leave, and the cycle repeats itself again. "Next year" never comes in the world of Bobcat MBB. 'I have come to the conclusion that MSU should eat the final year of his contract. Just like ripping off a band-aid, it will hurt a little to eat that money, but the sooner we make a change, the sooner (hopefully) we can begin turning things around. Unfortunately, I'm highly doubtful that PF will take that same view. I would be shocked if Huse is fired before the end of his contract.

Both players are being recruited by the College of Idaho (an NAIA school).

Marcus, I hope you can hear me yelling all the way in Post Falls.... PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DON'T CHANGE YOUR MIND! If you can't hear me, I'll be sure to yell it the next time I'm over there. Post Falls is nice, but BOZEMAN IS SO MUCH BETTER!!!

just for fun, here's a link from when Post Falls won the State 5A Championship in 2010. Includes several photos of Marcus, Shawn, and Malcolm Colbert (Marcus' older brother and University of Puget Sound player). Could the three hook back up in Tacoma?

http://bit.ly/HRkuDQ Updated the Shawn Reid/Tor Anderson/Flavien Davis blog w/audio from them. Also talked to Post Falls HC Mike McLean.
For what it's worth, McLean said Colbert isn't looking to get out of his scholly & wants to come to Bozeman. McLean said Reid & Colbert, while very close friends, have different identities & styles (on and off court, obviously) and are different people. Colbert, according to McLean, seems to like the smaller-town atmosphere while Reid, as we've come to learn, wants to be in a bigger, "let me get away from the game/life when I need to" place.
As a sidenote, and I'll look into this in-depth next month/early in the summer, I've counted 19 players in Huse's tenure that didn't stick on the roster through graduation. Not sure if that's both scholly players and walk-ons, and there's only four I can see that were axed due to academics. I haven't gone completely as in-depth as I'd like in terms of research yet, but that is a huge amount in a six-plus year period (an average of 3.2 per season, thus far). It also doesn't count Antonio Biglow not playing this season for academic reasons. Again, those are rough numbers. But they're not good at all.

Yikes Gidal, that is a pretty bad trend.

Between Montana State and Sacramento State, retaining players is a much bigger issue than any program can like or realistically handle and still be successful.

How is our APR in MBB? Wouldn't such a high rate of turnover be very bad for our APR, although I readily admit that I don't understand the intricacies of how APR is calculated. If the APR is below par, I have to believe that would not sit well with PF.

Wow...that's outstanding! How can the APR be that good with so many players having left the program during his tenure? Again, I don't really understand the specifics of how APR is calculated, other than it's somehow based upon grades and graduation rates...correct? Is MSU's APR not negatively impacted, so long as the players who've left eventually get a degree from some other school? Is that why all the turnover has not hurt our APR?

I'm pretty sure graduation rates don't include outgoing transfers who would have been academically eligible, and they're 6-year graduation rates. If I recall correctly, the NCAA considers anything above 50% acceptable.

Thanks for the clarification...that would explain it. I'm glad that the MBB program has a good APR, except that it probably makes Fields even more hesitant to pull the trigger on a coaching change.

I wonder how many of the guys who left/transferred were walk-ons and do non-scholly guys count for APR ?

You guys are SOOOOO naive....

Can't you just read between the lines?

SHawn said he is "looking for a better set up to be happier".... which really means that he was very depressed and which tells us a lot about the atmosphere within the team.

Think about it, he quits after 2 years of great friendship with most of his teammates....

Truth is, he hasn't mentionned a single reason why he thinks he should have said and didn't want shoot at the staff or his teammates before leaving, which is the "politically" correct way of getting out of a place without hurting your own reputation.

Reality is, coach Huse is a horrible coach that will never turn this ship around and will continue sinking it until getting fired.

Reality is, coach Huse hasn't build a single player that has gone on with his career overseas and started a decent carreer....

Reality is, none of "coach's" Huse team have ever played an exciting basketball.

Reality is, coach Huse doesn't have an identity and keeps on playing slow ball "circling around the 3 point lane" system which only emphasizes his player's weaknesses and not strenght (athleticism).

Reality is, that coach Huse doesn't have any charisma or basketball IQ and has never had an interesting post game press conference. Matter of fact, he is so out of it that he spend his time reading the stat sheet to the journalist interviewing him after home games....

Reality is, that ever since he joined the bobcat programm, the crowd has always been decreasing every single year in his tenure.

Reality is, Coach Huse almost flipped Shawn in 2010 when he told Shawn he didn't want him and called him lazy although he already offered him and Shawn had already commited.

Great Bradly, keep on going like this, you might just get 6 wins next year!

It's an outrage to see that he hasn't been fired yet.

Please Brad, do us a favor, step down and gain a little bit of respect back on your name
